In realization of the precautionary measures of COVID-19, the AFC Champions League 2021 draw was held today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Pedro Emmanuel, head coach of Al Ain Team, Ahmad Al Shamesi, Manager of Al Ain Team, and the Al Ain Club’s Press Coordinator attended the ceremony virtually via the video conference technology set up at the media room located in Khalifa Bin Zayed Stadium.

The winner of the match between the Al Ain Team and Iran’s Foolad Khuzestan Football Club will qualify to the stage level and play in Group D. The match between the two teams is scheduled to be held on 7th April 2021. Group D includes Qatar’s Al Sadd, Saudi Arabia’s Al Nasr, and Jordan’s Al Wehdat.

The AFC had formally addressed the clubs on the importance of participating in the draw ceremony via a special link sent to register the member clubs attending the ceremony. However, this time attendance was online due to the Corona pandemic conditions.

Following the end of the draw, Pedro Emmanuel said: “We are well aware of the Al Ain Club’s substantial interest in the AFC Champions League competition, and how vital this continental championship for everyone belonging to Al Ain club is! So, we all are required to achieve impressive results.

He added: “We are going to focus on our first match in our journey in this championship when we play against Foolad Khuzestan Football Club and most importantly to qualify to the groups’ stage.”

He concluded his statement by emphasizing that the team will spare no effort to achieve the desired positive result.
