H.E. Mohamed Obaid Hammad, Member of the Board of Directors of Al Ain Football Club Company and the General Supervisor of the First and Reserve Teams, expressed his sincere condolences to Brazil’s Dyanfres Douglas, on his great loss of his mother who was suffering from an acute heart attack recently.

He stated: “Team’s technical and administrative staff, players and even the fans share the Brazilian player his grief in his great loss, and are keen to stand next to him in the required manner to overcome this current hardship.”

On the possibility of playing against Al Jazeera, he said: “Definitely, the situation that Douglas is experiencing is so difficult and the Head Coach granted him a permission to fly back to Brazil to attend the funeral and bid farewell to his mother. He will not participate in the next game and will be away for the coming period.”

Commenting on a question on whether the numerical shortage in the lines of the team, besides Shiotani absence due to injury will have an impact on the team’s performance against Al Jazeera, he stated: “The “Boss” is used to facing absences situations whether they are because of injury or suspension.” He added: “No matter who is absent, we have full confidence in the team’s ability to exhibit a heroic performance against Al Jazeera, as they did when they confronted Al Wahda recently despite the absences of a large number of players.”

“Certainly such a comment does not apply to the “Boss” as whether the team is topping the standing table or not, they have the potentials which enable them to achieve their well-defined goals. I do believe that the real competition on the forefront and the title of the AGL has not come yet and premature because the league has 12 teams and the differences among top place competitors are inferior,” said he in response to a question on whether being at the top of the standing table exerts lots of pressure on the technical team and players.

He concluded his statement by saying: “Al Ain has the culture of winning championships. The team’s presence on the top is an ordinary issue and this is why we do not suffer from any pressures. Indeed, the difference in points should have been more if the referees were fair enough in the two matches as we lost four points due to draw results.”
