Al Ain Team head coach accentuates that all matches in all competitions have substantial importance, and the same applies to achieving positive results in all of them.

“Everyone knows well that matches between Al Ain and Al Wahda are big derbies, and it was good to play the first leg match here. We are now analyzing the team’s performance during that match and be serious and ready for the second leg match,” Sergiy stated in the pre-match press conference dedicated to his team’s match against Al Wahda as part of the quarterfinal stage of the ADIB Cup.

In response to a question on his team’s performance in carrying out the defensive roles, he commented: “In the previous post-match press conference, I hailed the whole team’s performance in carrying out the defensive tasks and did not talk about the defenders and strikers separately. In modern football, all the players have defensive and offensive roles that they should play.”

He added: “Indeed, the reason why the team did not create enough chances to score was not because of the team’s strikers, but because the whole team did not fulfill their offensive duties and tasks in the right manner.”

He pointed out that, as he stated earlier, matches in this Cup are of two rounds, and in the first round match, the team achieved at least an important target, i.e., finished the game with a clean sheet.

He stressed that: “Now, we have the second round match, which will be different, and we must improve our performance in carrying out the offensive tasks, and I am sure the coming match will be different.”

As for the players expected not to play the next match, he said: “It is not easy to play five matches every three days. However, we will do it. We also focus on the players’ recovery, an important aspect of modern football. The next match is an intensive one, and we should play intensively, and players should be in the form to do what they are meant to do. Unfortunately, certain players suffer from micro-injuries, and we do our best to ensure they are fully ready to play the next match, and I hope all will be good.”

As always, the team head coach addressed a special message to the loyal fans by saying: “I was happy to see the loyal fans behind the team in the first leg match against Al Wahda, who were much more, in terms of numbers, compared to our match against Dibba Al Fujairah. Therefore, I am sure fans will come to the stadium even if it is an away match.”

He concluded his statement by emphasizing, “We will be pleased to see only one supporter behind the team in the next match as we are playing for them, and it is important to be always together. Therefore, Ainawi fans should come and support the team, and we will also support them.”
