“Al Ain squad deserved to win tonight’s match against the well-powered Al Wasl,” Croatia’s Ivan Leko, the head coach of Al Ain, opened the post-match media conference.

He added: “We faced some difficulties in the early minutes of the match, and we were punished by conceding an early goal. However, we stood tall and dominated the match with high concentration the players showed explicit fighting spirit and determination to snatch the three points in a muggy night.”
The Croatian coach congratulated the home team for their stunning performance and underlined that winning Al Wasl will boost the players’ confidence and trigger their inner power to keep going on the right track.

On the secret behind dominating the second half, specifically following replacing Andreja by Bandar Al Ahbabi, Leko said: “Actually, Bandar succeeded to make the difference by scoring the second goal from the first touch and assisted in scoring the third goal. This proves the fact that football rewards the player who gives more on the pitch. It is a message to all the squad that we have to push ourselves to the limit in the coming matches.”

As for the lessons learned from this match, he stated that we missed the ball easily in the first quarter of the game and the team should focus on improving the performance and boost the level of concertation. “We have to analyze the weaknesses and strengths and handle all weak points to arrive at the required level of performance and superiority.”

Leko rated his team’s performance in tonight’s match by giving a full score of 10 out of 10. “We snatched the three points of our two matches in AGL, and we draw in our first match in AGC and then won Al Jazira by clean three goals.”

Again, a question was addressed on the reasons behind missing Brazil’s Caio Canedo this match and whether if there is any disagreement with the player. Leko stated that Caio is one of the best players in AGL. He also commented: “Two months ago, reports associated my name with Amoory, and gossipers stated that I wanted him to rejoin the squad. Today, I see the same scenario happening with Caio. I do not prefer such things and using my name in fake news. We have to focus on our jobs and hope gossipers stop their nonsense.”
