Al Ain squad stood tall and turned the table on Al Wasl and defeat the home team 3-1 at Zabeel Stadium in matchweek 2 of the Arabian Gulf League on Thursday 26 September 2019.

Noteworthy, the first half ended by a 1-1 draw. Al Ain scored through Tsukasa Shiotani at “18”, Bandar Al Ahbabi “60” and Laba Kodjo “69”. The home team scored their only goal by Suarez Welliton.

By this result, the Boss maintains their perfect start as they are second on six points. Meanwhile, Al Wasl is eighth on one point only.

The game got off to a quick start, and the Boss took the initiative in the first minute to score early. Laba Kodjo rattled Al Wasl defenders, but he was pushed from behind inside the box prior facing Al Was goalkeeper. The match referee did not take any action and pointed to a goal kick.

Al Wasl responded directly when the midfielder Khamis Ismael sent a powerful shot from outside the box, but it passed the goal post “3”.

Suarez Welliton gave the hosts a 1-0 lead on the quarter-hour mark. Khalid Eisa initially saved Fernando Gaibor’s effort off Ali Saleh’s cross, but the rebound fell to the Brazilian forward who tapped the ball home.

Al Wasl’s advantage didn’t last long as only three minutes later, Tsukasa Shiotani leveled the scoreline for Al Ain. Al Wasl’s defense failed to clear the ball following a corner-kick, as it fell to the Japanese defender who sent a powerful effort from the edge of the box to make it 1-1.

Just after the restart, Saleh came close to regaining Al Wasl’s lead off a counterattack; however, Saeed Jumaa cleared the ball to keep the game tied at 1-1.

It was Al Ain, however, who found the back of the net. Around the one-hour mark at “60”, substitute Bandar Al Ahbabi who replaced Andreja Radovanovic. It took Al Ahbabi only one minute to put the Boss in front after rocketing a powerful effort from outside the box.

Bandar Al Ahbabi was determined to make the difference when a one-two play between Al Ahbabi and Laba saw the ball fell to the Togolese forward inside the box as he netted the ball with a simple tap “69”.
