International goalkeeper Khaled Eisa, mainstay with Al Ain club, underlined that his team round 1 match of the Arabian Gulf League was tough. “At any rate, the match statistics presented by the head coach showed that the Boss deserved to win, given Al Ain’s high rates of ball possession, match domination, average distances.”

He added: “I believe we gained several advantages out of that match, particularly seeing the key players back to the squad after a long time of absence due to injury.”

“During the last season, I have stated on more than one occasion that winning the first football matches is more important than performance. I do believe that the stunning positive results in the early stages of the league are so important. Indeed, this is what we are planning to do and so determined to achieve the pre-set goals of the current season.”

As for the mistakes committed by the team’s backline during the previous match intensified the levels of pressures on him, he said: “I do not recognize the term of one-man show in football matches, because it is a collective game and each player complements the role of his teammate.”

“I always highlight the importance of the element of luck in football. Numerous clubs did not perform well but succeeded in achieving their targets, and examples are abundant.”

“For me, I do not consider myself the reason behind winning an opponent. At the time I was defending my den from conceding a goal, we found Saeed Jumaa scored the winning goal in the dying minutes of the match. This means that we, as players, we do complement each other.”

Commenting on the upcoming clash match against Al Wasl, he said: “Al Ain and Al Wasl matches are always spirited and full of excitement among the fans in the standings, on social media and even among the sports media critics. It is a fact that I actually experienced during the past seven years I spent in defending the Boss badge except for the second leg match when we overpowered Al Wasl by 5-1. It was one of the big and exciting matches I played against Al Wasl.”

Commenting on the fans’ unfavorable reaction about the team’s performance in the league round 1 match, he said: “Actually, the football fans have become aware and proficient at analyzing the games amazingly. The scenario we are experiencing at the kickoff of this season, we had it two seasons ago when we clinched the double titles. At that season, the team was criticized by everyone for poor results, but in the end, it is the results that count. However, we always consider any constructive criticism, and we should always consider that performance is not more important than results in football games.”

He addressed a message to the Ainawi Nation by saying: “We are in deep need for the support of the Boss fans. I find it a great opportunity to thank all those who attended the team’s first match in the league, given the poor results of the team in the past season, in addition to current weather conditions.”

Eisa signed off: “I hope to see more than five or six thousand fans in the standings, and we will altogether work to achieve our common goals and great aspirations.”
