“For us, it was essential to see how we will appear in the first friendly match, especially since we have 22 players onboard and granted them 45 minutes to show their skills,” Alfred Schreuder, Al Ain head coach, said by the end of the friendly match against Spain’s Cutillas FC held on Friday morning 14th July 2023.
He added: “Indeed, all the players did well regardless of the level of the opponent, particularly in terms of the offensive tactics. That was our main focus during this match.”
The head coach of the Al Ain Team hailed the performance of all the players who played equally for 45 minutes.
Commenting on the result of his team’s first friendly match, which ended 10-1, he said: “For me, the result at present is not of great importance, and we are looking forward to increasing the players’ physical fitness until we reach the level that is consistent with our style of playing. Based on our evaluation of the team’s performance in the first half and the second half, there are many positive aspects that we wanted to see, especially when playing with such opponents. The match for us was good training.”
In response to a question about the young players he involved in the second half, he said: “Yes, we have outstanding young players, and this is an important thing to see in Al Ain Club. The Cub has a distinguished football academy.”
He said that last season, the U-18 team won the league and cup titles. He insisted that he knows a lot about the Al Ain Football Academy and that it is easy to recognize that there are excellent and talented young players. He said: “It would be nice to join them on the first team.”
Alfred Schreuder concluded his speech with a message to Al Ain fans, saying: “For us, it is perfect to train here to prepare the team for the upcoming challenges before flying back to Al Ain City and seeing our loyal fans in the stands when we play our first official match at home.”
