Muhammad Obaid Hammad, member of the Steering Committee of Al Ain Football Club Affairs Management emphasized that the draw of the AFC Champions League held today at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was balanced and stated: “Actually, the AFC Champions League the top elite clubs in Asia and it is illogical to deal with any team as weak, in view of the name of the competition that includes the best and strongest elite football clubs in in the continent”.
We respect all our opponents in Group “A” but Al-Ain brand is still well-rooted in this continental championship by virtue of the high patronage and unlimited support provided by the Club Presidency, the boldness of the players aspiring to a strong comeback to the Asian Championship after two seasons, the great passion of each member to fulfill Al-Ain Asian aspirations, in addition to the huge support provided by Al-Ain loyal fans who were and still the distinguishing mark by providing the team with the greater motives to achieve their targets after participating in winning the continental title in 2003, in addition to Al-Ain reaching the AFC Champions League final twice and demonstrating a strong presence in the final rounds. We hope that Al-Ain will fulfill the desired aspirations in the continental championship by the concerted efforts and the one-family spirit”.
Replying to a question regarding the squad in the AFC Champions League, he said: “Certainly, the squad represents a critical challenge for all clubs, not just the Al-Ain team. We have full confidence in the technical staff, led by the Dutch coach, Alfred Schreuder, to select the appropriate squad for the AFC Champions League and we beg Allah to bestow us success and good luck”.
