Pedro Emmanuel, head coach of the Al Ain Team, admitted that the match against Khorfakkan was so difficult as they expected.

In the post-match press conference, he stated that the team exerted lots of effort and created loads of chances to score, but the team was granted nothing and denied the right goal due to the VAR decisions. The team aimed to snatch the match’s three points but failed to do so.

“We tried to dominate the match by controlling the ball, and we did know that Khorfakkan will take advantage of our mistakes, and we committed a mistake, and they scored their first goal. However, the team’s reaction was perfect, and we equalize the result, and all the players were committed to implementing our plan,” he said.

Again, the head coach expressed his disappointment as his team conceded two goals, but at the same time, “we came back to the match and took the lead, and the result became 2-1.”

Pedro justified why the team was held to draw as he referred it to the players who felt confident that the match would end with this result while they should do more and close all the open spaces and control the ball to find more spaces in the opponent’s area.

He said that the team failed to do so, and that gave the home team two or three chances, and they leveled the result.

He pointed out: “We had time to score more goals, and we must be patient, but the players were not patient, and they were so exhausted for the tremendous efforts they exerted in the first 60 minutes of the match.”

He signed off by saying: “We had perfect three chances to score in the dying minutes of the match and make the result at least 3-2, but it ended up by a 2-2 draw.”
