I Understand Why the Fans Are Not Happy With The Team.. Garrido: I Look Forward to Improving Our Results and Qualifying to ACL 2020
Spain’s Head Coach of Al Ain FC, Juan Carlos Garrido, opened the pre-match press conference dedicated for the team’s match of round 24 of the Arabian Gulf League against Dibba Al Fujairah by stating: “As last weeks and last games I have to repeat the same idea. Again, in my opinion the three points of this match are so essential to achieve our goals. I believe the goal of the team right now is to qualify to the AFC Champions League and this means we have to be at the top four in the standing table. In my opinion this the last opportunity to achieve this goal.”
He went on to say: “This is a critical game and in my opinion all of us, players, the club’s staff have to work 100% to win this game because it will not be an easy one because it is a fact that in the last games of the season, especially when you play against teams who are fighting to keep their position in the league are very difficult games because it is a matter of live or die. In my opinion, the situation is the same for us as our players’ attitude should be either to live or die.” He further explained that he believes that everyone in the club should be interested to get qualify to the AFC Champions League 2020 which is as professionals is the important thing.
He also pointed out that since he assumed his responsibilities as the head coach, he has the never-ending problem of injured players. “Unfortunately, in this moment I have few players who I do not know if they are able to play or not because like always in this period, I have players who are injured and will never know if they will be able to play or not until the last day.”
Commenting on a question that after the team’s match against Al Hilal, the team had few injured players and whether such a situation will have a negative impact on his efforts to achieve his pre-set goals, he said: “As I stated earlier, since my first day here, unfortunately, I have experienced a very bad period with a lot of players out of essential games, every week is not the same as the one before. So, I was not lucky in this point because I used to miss many important players in many games. Again, we should wait until the last moment to identify who is available to play the game and what is the final starting line-up. I always I wanted to play with my best players but in many games I could not. Finally, the players who play the next match, they should be 100% motivated and have the desire to win. We are lucky that we recover Ciao Lucas, Shiotani and Ruben after the last match. And now I think for our players it is the moment to show their quality and the desire to get the three points.
Juan Carlos concluded his statement by addressing a message to the fans: “They are right because the performance and results are very bad. They are right to complain about what is happening in the club and of course the fans are right when they are not happy with the team. I can not ask them to support for nothing. From my first day I wanted to play games with full stadium but in our first game here unfortunately fans were not in the stadium. Of course, I wanted to play with our fans in the standings as it is easier to win when they are there, but I understand that they are not happy with the team.
