In the post-match press conference of Al Ain and Al Sharjah match, the Croatia’s Head Coach of Al Ain First Football Team Zoran Mamic said: “No comments on what happened in today’s match.” He went on to say: “Regardless of the events accompanied this match, I still believe that my team did well under the circumstances we faced before and after the match in terms of the team’s absences and sending off two players.”

He described the referees’ mistakes as disastrous by saying: “I do not know any logical reason for giving Douglas a yellow card in the game, especially the recent amendments to football regulations are clear.” He added: “The referee also gave two cards to Marcus Berg following two violations, while he did not use his cards against Al Sharjah player who deliberately blocked Douglas. Add to that, Shaheen Abdul Rahman and his teammate Majid Sorour committed more than ten mistakes, the matter that obliged their Head Coach to substitute them during the break time and again they did not receive except one card. Personally, I cannot imagine how such things happen. Indeed, if I were in the referee’s shoes, I would feel ashamed but perhaps he does not know the nature of his work.”

Commenting on a question on whether he is not afraid to be subjected to penalties for criticizing the referees, he said: “Why should I be punished? I am only telling the truth and referees were bad and that is the reality.”

“We will miss Douglas Dyanfres for receiving the third yellow card, Mohannad Al Enezi and Marcus Bergh because of red cards. Also, Omar Abdul Rahman, Mohammed Abdul Rahman and Ismael Ahmad,” said he in response to a question on the team’s absences in the next match.
