Al Ain FC’s administrator Issam Abdulla believes that Al Ain’s hopes to win the AFC title are still alive as they have lost a leg but not the championship.

“A word of sincere appreciation is due to Al Ain FC players; they played heroically, defied Jeonbuk at their home grounds, controlled most of the game, created many scoring opportunities and more importantly were the first to lead,” he said.

He was also impressed by the players sustaining their self-confidence and cheering each other in the locker room after losing the first-leg. “For those two indications, I can say that Al Ain City is close to celebrating the AFC champions’ league trophy soon,” he confirmed.

He added that they have to get well prepared for second-leg next Saturday building on having not lost any away game after their second match versus Qatar’s El Jaish during the qualifying group stage. “Our second-leg against Jeonbuk will be a new challenge to us, but we have to turn it into an opportunity of shaking off the first loss and making all Emiratis overjoy winning the Asian title,” he added.

“Following the players’ convincing performance which was praised by everyone, I think thousands of fans will swarm into HBZ Stadium which hopefully will host our celebrations on regaining the Asian trophy.” He concluded.
