The head coach of Al Ain FC Zoran Mamic opened the post-match press conference held following the end of his team’s match against Al Sharjah FC by congratulating Al Sharjah for their victory over Al Ain. “Our opponent showed us tonight practically how to achieve the desired goals in football by imposing their style of playing and being successful in turning the few chances they had into goals while we did not do the same. This is football anyway! If you do not score in such games, you will definitely concede goals and lose the match.”

Commenting on a question that the fans have concerns with regard to losing the title of the league following being defeated twice at home, he said: “Certainly, it is not good to lose at home, but it is too early to talk about the competition to win the AGL title or missing the chances, given that we still have 18 matches left. We will have lots of chances to come back. However, we are required to redouble our efforts and leverage our level of concentration in a better way. Observers of our performance will find that we missed several opportunities to score through Marcus Berg and Shiotani, in addition to shots sent by Caio from outside the box but by the end of the day we were not lucky enough to score.”

He added: “We are required also to exhibit to the opponents our genuine fighting spirit. Also, we have to focus not on the team’s second, third or fourth match but the first coming match and deal reasonably with each one separately.”

On the decline of the players’ performance, he said: “I prefer not to talk about the players’ performance in press conference rooms, as I will handle this issue in the changing room and in details. At any rate, the team’s performance is not similar to the past season, but it happens in football and we have to fix such a situation by hard work.”
