Juan Carlos Garrido, the head coach of Al Ain First Football Team, stated in the post-match press conference held following the end of matchweek 17 against Shabab Al Ahli Dubai that he is not happy with the result at all. “We came here to win the three points of the match. In professional football, high performance indicators do not mean anything when you lose your match. This is why all teams are required to score goals and not to miss chances to score against the opponents. It is only victories that counts and losing matches is an indicator of suboptimal performance.”

“I am not sure the first goal we conceded is an offside or not! Regardless it is offside or not, it was an important for the opponent team. Indeed, it was a turning point of the match. However, the opponent was better that us since the kick-off whistle,” he said.

He added: “In the second half, we were better and I was confident that my squad will be able to bring the match to the first square. However, we were not luck enough given sending off two players making it easy for the opponent and to finish the match.”

In response to a question on the reason behind bringing on Jamal Marouf and Rayan Yaslam prior the second half, he stated: “I was trying to enhance the striking force of the team in our quest to level up the result and snatch the three points. Indeed, it is the small details that might make the difference in all situations and be behind achieving the superiority.”
