“I always state following the end of each match that the result is a real indicator of our performance during the match. Personally, so proud of my stars’ performance in today’s clash match,” Juan Carlos Garrido the head coach of Al Ain FC stated in the post-match press conference held following the end of round 3 match of Group Stage of ACL 2019.

He added: “I believe the match was balanced but the lead goal scored by the opponent team boosted their morale significantly. In return, the performance of our back line under the command of our “international” goalkeeper Khalid Eisa was amazing and were able to handle the majority of the offensive attempts launched by the opponent team. In the second half, we succeeded to return to the match and missed a penalty kick and were so close to take the lead. Again, I believe that the Boss deserved to win the match and snatch important three points.”

“I had a brief chat with the squad players during the break time after the first half and asked them to push themselves to the limit and fight hard to level up and win the match. I have full confidence in them and their quality skills,” he said.

Commenting on whether Khalid Eisa was the main reason for the draw result, he stated: “In football, you win due to the team work and the same applies in draw or loosing the match. However, Khalid is a professional and international player and has a strong charisma in the pitch. Indeed, he made the difference with the team by saving his back net in several critical minutes of the match.”

“All teams still have the chance to compete to snatch one of the two qualifying cards to the next stage. The Boss is always required to achieve the best results that guarantee them to win one of these two cards,” he said in response to a question on his team’s chances to qualify to the next stage.

Answering the final question on whether he believes that the opponent lost three points and that the Boss won only one point, he commented: “I believe we did well tonight and exhibited our genuine fighting spirit. We were so close to snatch the three points of the match as we came here to win and for sure we do not deserve to lose the match. I asked my players following the end of our recent match against Al Jazira to react aggressively in the coming matches and they did so today.”
