The “international” goalkeeper of Al Ain FC and UAE National Football Team, Khalid Issa, has written a new chapter of history when he achieved a new record making him eligible to snatch the title of the Best Goalkeeper in the history of the Arabian Gulf Cup.
He deservedly awarded the title as played for 510 minutes without conceding a goal to outperform giant goalkeepers, namely: Kuwait’s Ahmed Al Tarabolsi, Saudi Arabia’s Walid Abdullah and Oman’s Ali Al Habsi. Indeed, Al Tarabolsi played for the “Blues” five matches in the competition and was able to defend Kuwait National Team den for 450 minutes but that was during the original time of the matches. Meanwhile, Ali Al Habsi and Walid Abdullah were able to keep their nets clean in the 2009 edition for 480 minutes given that Oman’s and KSA’s national teams played extra time for 30 minutes in the final match which ended in penalty kicks.
As for Khalid Issa, he played for 510 minutes since UAE National Team played extra time in the semi-final and final matches.
