During the post-match press conference, Al Ain’s Captain Omar Abdul Rahman, who was selected by the Asian Football Confederation to be the Man of the Match, said, “All the team players did undertake in our dressing room assigned for the team at Azadi Stadium last week, specifically following the end of the first leg match held in Iran, to celebrate with our supporters at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium the team’s qualification to the quarter-finals. Indeed, it happened because of the collaborative efforts paid by all technical and administrative staffs and players. We were able to score six historical goals which was not expected though I, personally, was confident that we will win and qualify for the quarterfinals.”

He went on to say, “During the past two seasons we did not win any title, but we were able during the same two seasons to qualify to the final match of the Asian Championship though we missed the good luck and ended as the runners up.” He concluded by saying, “I think our qualification to the quarter-finals of the strongest championship at the Asian level is a positive matter by the end of our season. However, this result does not match Al Ain Club’s ambition. We are used to arriving at this stage in several past seasons and the real achievement for Al Ain Team is to win more titles of local and continental championships.”
