I Got an Exceptional Opportunity to Fulfil My Ambitions with One of the Biggest Asian Clubs

Al Ain Club Has the Largest Grassroots, and I Look Forward to Being Crowned with the AFC Champions League Title

I Spent Only 24 Hours in Al Ain City, and I Felt It Has Special Attractiveness and Specificity

In a press statement published by the Al Ain Club’s official website, Matías Palacios expressed his deep appreciation to the management of Al Ain and Basel clubs for establishing a positive atmosphere and professional way of concluding the deal.

He stated: “I felt satisfied with Al Ain’s offer, which was featured by seriousness during the negotiation phase. I understand well that I will be facing a new challenge in my career and get a great opportunity to fulfill my ambitions with one of the biggest clubs in the Asian continent.”

“I am confident that Al Ain Club is a strong team with a distinguished squad who are ready to fight to win more titles,” he said.

In response to a question on whether he had heard about Al Ain Club before, he said: “I know Al Ain before the negotiation phase, specifically in 2018, when the squad faced the Argentine River Plate FC in the FIFA Club World Cup- 2018 UAE to be qualified to the final match against Real Madrid at the time.”

He commended the Boss squad’s efforts in that championship by saying: “What the team players exhibited in that tournament made the whole world show genuine respect to the team. Indeed, it is not a secret if I tell you that when I learned that Al Ain Club intended to have me on board, I started searching more about Al Ain Club and the city. It was amazing to read such massive and wonderful information about the history of the “Boss”. So, naturally, this motivated me to join this great club.”

He pointed out that he spent only 24 hours in Al Ain City and felt that the city has its specificity and attractiveness.

“This enhances the desire of everyone visiting it to be loyal to such a great city for the amazing balance that combines the originality in its archaeological sites, historical treasures, and modernity that is embodied in its greenery, charm, beauty, and open, modern and smart spaces, such as the Plaza Square located in the vicinity of Hazaa Bin Zayed Stadium. The latter is really a rare architectural masterpiece,” Palacios commented on the specialty of Al Ain City.

Biography
The talented Argentine Matías Palacios commenced his career in football like any other professional football player in his homeland, Argentina. First, he joined the neighborhood team where he lived, and his father was in charge of training that team. As a result, his talent and skills improved, and his capacities as a footballer developed rapidly.

He was a target for scouts and players’ agents who bet on his talents. So when he was 13 years old, he moved to play for the St. Lorenz junior team and spent about five years in the club’s academy. Once he was 18 years old, he moved to Basel FC in Switzerland to play a season and a half and then joined the Al Ain Club in July 2022.
