“I do not believe in luck in football, particularly in a big competition like the AFC Champions League that gets together top teams. This is why those referees should be of the same high level,” Pedro Emmanuel stated in the post-match conference.

He went on to say that in two matches his team played, he did not see any good performance by the referees. He also wondered why the ACL-2020 does not adopt the VAR system.

“My question is why we did not get the same chances granted to the opponent. We did our best until the 60th minute of the match when we had another challenge as the match referee did not award my team a penalty kick,” Pedro stated.

The head coach of Al Ain added that it does not make a difference to lose to the opponent by one of six goals as it means you are losing points.

On the tight schedule, he pointed out that such a plan needs a well-organized program to prepare the players mentally. “In such confrontations, the team who scores first definitely would be in a better mental status. Indeed, we were not in our day as we had several chances to score.”

Pedro concluded his statement by congratulating his players for their efforts despite losing the match’s result, considering the current circumstances. He vowed to continue to working hard to get back up in preparation for the next game and be stronger.
