We Achieved the Proper Level of Focus in the Team’s Defensive System

“I believe it is good we have four days between our coming and previous matches just to give the players a good break,” Sergiy Rebrov opened the pre-match press conference of matchweek 23 of ADNOC Pro League against Al Sharjah scheduled to be held on Wednesday 19th April 2023 at HBZS at 10:00 pm.

The head coach of the Al Ain squad added: “It is a good space of time for the players to recover following playing several consecutive tough matches. Everyone understands how important the next match against Al Sharjah is! I am confident that the fans will attend in massive numbers considering winning Al Wasl Team in the recent match at home. I can only say that the players know the significance of our match against the Al Sharjah squad and enjoy high concentration.”

Rebrov stressed that his team reached the required level of focus while conducting the defensive tasks. He stated that sometimes the team’s performance in defensive tasks was good, and sometimes the team conceded goals.

“If we consider our recent match against Al Wasl and that we played with one man down, we would see that the ten players focused on conducting their defensive tasks best. This is why we won the opponent with a clean sheet and strong performance,” he said.

He added that they all enjoyed high concentration and played as one team to fulfill their defensive obligations with great harmony, leading them to win the guest team.

Despite his team’s challenges, he commented on the Al Ain squad’s keenness to waste no time in the semifinal match: “I always say that we should only focus on our team’s affairs. Yes, I consider it a challenge to play real football without wasting time. We played several matches against the top five teams in the league, including Shabab Al Ahli, Jazira, and Al Wahda, and regardless of our position in the standing table of the league of the President’s Cup, we must focus on our next match against Al Sharjah.”

Rebrov insisted: “We should focus on our team’s affairs through playing real football seriously. We should prepare for the next match by knowing the opponent’s style of playing and things expected to do on the pitch and doing our best to dominate the match. This is the only way to achieve our targets.”

The head coach of Al Ain expressed that he was not happy to see half of the Ainawi stands empty as he wished to see massive numbers behind the team in a historical match against Al Wasl Team and be able to qualify for the final game of the President’s Cup.

“I am sure loyal fans will be there in the next match against Al Sharjah to support the players who fight for them, and definitely they will spare no effort to win the guests due to the fans’ support and encouragement,” Sergiy Rebrov concluded.
