“It was not an easy match against Ittihad Kalba, especially in the first half,” Pedro opened the post-match press conference of his team matchweek 14 of the Arabian Gulf League held on Friday 14th February 2020 at Ittihad Kalba Stadium.

He went on to say that the Boss played against a very organized team, especially in the front line. “However, we exerted high pressure against the opponent and dominated the match in the second half. We planned to create chances to score, and after scoring the third goal, the players’ performance became untroubled, and they controlled every detail of the match.”

“The most important thing is the match’s three points and be in the second spot. Our next goal is to put firm hands at the first spot and believe me if I have no trust in my team’s potentials, I will not be here with you,” Pedro said.

The Portuguese head coach hailed the team for their deserved victory and stressed the fact that “There was a big challenge facing the players to be at the second spot. Our performance in the first half was not that good because of the opponent’s style of playing. In the second half, we were better, and by the end of the match, we snatched the three points.”

As for replacing Laba Kodjo, he said: “We have several matches within a very tight schedule. So, I preferred to give a break for the best player in UAE now and also to give Caio Canedo the chance to be in the front line, and he was up to the expectations and scored our fourth goal.”

He commented on the Hungarian Balázs Dzsudzsák celebration for scoring the third goal in his former team. He said: “This is part of the football game. I believe that celebrating the first goal for your team is very important. Dzsudzsák used to score goals for Ittihad Kalaba and was celebrating these great moments with the team’s fans. Today, he is playing for Al Ain, and the Ainawi fans are waiting to celebrate such moments.”
