We Have a Firm Will to Win “Al Nasr” and Got Crystal-Clear Goals for This Season

“All is set, and we are ready to fight for the Al Ain badge, and we enjoy high morale, considering we were honored yesterday to meet Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan, Vice- Chairman of Al Ain Sports and Cultural Club, Chairman of Executive Committee and Chairman of Talents Care Committee,” Laba Kodjo opened the media conference of matchweek 7 of ADNOC Pro League against Al Nasr Team.

He added: “Sheikh Sultan’s visit positively impacted all the players and boosted our morale to fight for the club. We must focus more on the league games and make the club’s management, fans, and all members happy.”

He commented on a question about the impact of losing the derby match: “I mentioned that we enjoy high morale. Indeed, it is normal to lose in football games, and big clubs should rise swiftly and overcome the influences of defeat. This for sure requires hard work, high concentration, and a strong desire to improve team performance and results.”

“It is not a secret to say that all players were unhappy with the result, but this is football. We did our best in that match, and I am sure we still have the power to exert more efforts to fight for our club and the fans as well,” he said.

Laba stated: “I believe all were upset by the end of our match against Al Wahda because we wished we could win the guests. It was an important “derby” not only for the league but also for our club.”

He also pointed out: “However, this is football, and we lost that match to the opponent. We are focusing on our next match, representing a precious three points, and will spare no effort to snatch these points.”

As for the players’ feelings after the match: “As I stated earlier, all the squad players were not happy with the result, and, normally, the fans would not be happy to lose that match. However, as you all know, the match started ahead of the kickoff whistle between the fans. Therefore, I believe we have no excuses, and we must fight hard to win all remaining matches and put a smile on the fans’ faces.”

Laba also commended the Al Ain Club saying that Al Ain is a big club and strictly follows its pre-set goals. He stressed that all players are focusing on realizing them.
He pointed out that the season is still in the early stages, and the point difference with the top team is only four points.

Laba concluded his statement: “Even if the point difference is higher, we must focus only on our internal affairs. We have to fight and focus on each match separately. To win matches is something from God, but we must fight on the pitch.”
