Zoran Mamic, Head Coach of Al Ain First Football Team, emphasized that his team will play a strong derby match against the hosting team, Al Wahda. He stated: “We aspire to continue in seizing the points and achieve the positive results. Indeed, we will seek to show the best performance to win this match on the expense of a good team.” He stressed: “My team will play with high morals and they are even more motivated compared to the previous match we played against Al Sharjah.”

On the team’s absences, he said: “I think we need hours to talk about this issue as we have suspended players and the injured ones. However, we still have two training sessions and we will choose those who are ready to join the starting lineup for the coming match.”

“Omar Abdul Rahman did not participate in any training session after the first match in the League against Al Wasl. Also, Ismael Ahmed has not reached the required level of readiness yet, and “Ajab” has not participated in training since two weeks ago. Even so, I have full confidence in the players whom I will choose to exhibit the best level in the coming derby clash,” added Zoran.

“It is difficult to determine any ratio for the player’s participation in Saturday’s game, but we will see according to the conditions of the match and I will take the decision accordingly. Yet, we have to be careful when dealing with the player’s situation as he has not attended any training sessions since Al Wasl match as I mentioned to you. Indeed, we need him for all longer time and not for this coming match only.”

“Actually there are a number of reasons, including that my team is missing a number of key players and there are certain issues that the substitutes need to focus on and I think the current situation requires to have closed-up training sessions,” said he in response to a question why he had closed the training sessions.

Commenting on a question on his view on topping the standing table after the derby conformation, he stated: “I do not have special calculations regarding to be at the top place of the standing table as much as my focus is on clinching the three points. This is my technical philosophy away from the calculations of being on the top place.”

“I will talk about myself, absolutely I am right and I expect the committee to cancel the decision and review the laws very well. There is no singly clause in the regulations that prevents me from running towards the referee in the pitch after the end of the match. I read the grounds of the decision and punishment was based on the fact that I ran following the end of the match and the report did not include anything else, such as talking badly to the referee. Quite the reverse, I spoke with the referee for about five seconds only and did not uttered a single bad word or expressing my anger using body language,” replied he when asked about the suspension decision for five times since the beginning of the season and whether he thinks that he is right and the Disciplinary Committee was wrong.
When asked about his team’s participation in the AFC Champions League, he said: “It is certain that when Al Ain participates in any competition, the team’s goal is not only to participate but also to compete to win the title. in fact, to participate in the Asian League this means we need more players because the team is competing in several competitions.” He concluded by saying: “I submitted my technical report on the team’s participation in the new edition of the AFC Champions League to the Professionalism Technical Committee and final decision will be in the hands of the Club’s senior management.”
