We Would Repeat the Last Scene of the Pervious “Derby” But Away from the Odd Events Occurred
“For us, it is a usual match although it is a derby; it represents three points for us,” Sergiy Rebrov opened the pre-match press conference of matchweek 6 of ADNOC Pro League against Al Wahda.
He added: “However, we have to be serious as Al Wahda has a new head coach and play differently compared to the beginning of the season and won more points in their recent matches. Of course, we have to be more serious and I am sure that we would see massive number of fans in the standings of HBZS to support us. As I always say, we have to play each match seriously regardless of the team we are playing against, whether it is Dibba Al Fujairah or Al Wahda.”
That head coach of the Boss pointed out that he believes the fans are expecting such type of matches and they do love to be in the stadium to watch it.
“Personally, I like to play such matches as everybody continues to talk about it ahead of the kickoff whistle, during the match and after the finish whistle. Yet, the most significant aspect of this match is to leverage the level of concentration and show the genuine level and skills of the team on pitch. Most importantly also is not let this match’s pressures have any impact on us,” he stated.
He also stressed: “We have to do focus on fulfilling what we are meant to do and achieve the goals of the team. This is an important point and would explain that for the players. Also, since we are playing at home, we must show the true image of the champions and work hard to snatch the three points.”
Regarding the opponent’s performance, he commented: “As I stated earlier, as we are playing at home, we must focus on the team’s affairs. If we are not sure of our level of playing, this is our problem and we should not fear any opponent, simply, because we are the champions.”
Rebrov explained factors that helped the team to win the league title in the previous season saying: “In this season, we have to know well how we won the league title last season. We deserved to win the title for we were playing with high level of concentration, so enthusiastic to play each match and exert all efforts by 100% to win opponents. I believe this is the recipe to win the next match. Definitely, I would explain to players all the opponent’s strengths and weak points that we could take advantage of. However, we must show our actual level before the fans and players enjoy high level of enthusiasm to play and fight to score goals.”
Responding to a question on the players he expects they would miss playing the next match, he pointed out: “Players are all set and in form to play the coming match. It is good to have such a group of players within the team and happy to have more than one player playing in the same position. They are competing among them to prove they deserve to be in the team’s starting lineup.
Commenting on the odd behaviors and action took place following the finish whistle, he said: “I agree with you that we will have the same scenario of last season, but in terms of winning the opponent and not the clashes took place after the end of the match.”
He went on to say: “We all know that such matches are emotional and what happened in the previous season was not good. We have to respect each other and fans deal with each other respectfully and no need to commit and violations. Everybody should understand that well and also understand that the audience are looking forward to watching such type of matches impatiently.”
He concluded his statement saying: “We have to focus on playing a genuine football on the pitch and not think about any other issues happening outside the pitch.”
