“Preparations for the coming match went as usual while giving the players’ recovery programs more attention, given the number of matches we played and the tight schedule we have. Indeed, it is not easy for all the players,” Sergiy Rebrov opened the pre-match press conference dedicated for the second leg match of the PLC Pro Cup against Al Wasl and scheduled to be held on this Tuesday at Za’beel Stadium.

Rebrov replied to a question on his expectations of his team’s match against Al Wasl, he said: “We look forward to winning the opponent to qualify to the semifinal stage of the PLC Pro Cup.”

He added that his squad is all set despite missing certain players and seeing others rejoining the team, which he considers regular in the football game. However, he insisted that only players who are entirely in the form will be selected to be in the starting lineup, although they all expressed their sincere desire to play the next match.

When asked about the Ainawi Nation and their role in supporting the team, he said: “I am so happy to see the fans behind the team in all stadiums. It does not matter their number, but it is all about the presence that triggers the players’ motivation to play hard and be so keen to make them happy.”

He invited the fans to attend the match to cheer up the team pointing out that it is so essential to winning the home team, which he will focus on boosting up the performance of the front line and performing well. He justified that by stating that “Al Wasl’s performance tempo is progressive and thrashed their opponent in their last match by 5-0. So I do believe they will spare no effort in this coming match and will play aggressively.”

He also stated that the location of the Boss matches is a secondary issue! “As exactly happened in the recent match held at home, the fans’ presence in the stadium stands to support the team made the players fight hard to win the guests and put a smile on their faces.”

Commenting on the same issue, he said: “Statistics indicate that there is no difference in the team’s results whether they are playing at home or in the away matches.”

He signed off by saying: “As I always say that we only focus on our issues while showing the opponent all their due respect. We analyze and understand the opponent, but we only focus on improving our team’s performance.”
