The “Boss” Extends its Lead of the Table by Triple Goals in Al Jazira’s Net

Al Ain earned crucial points by crossing over Al Jazira by 3-2 in the away match held at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in Al-Jazira Club in matchweek 19 of the Arabian Gulf Football League.

The “Boss” finished the first half by taking the lead by 1-0. Omar Abdulrahman scored two goals and Marcus Berg boosted the result to be 3-0. The Brazilian striker Romarinho scored for Al Jazira at 80 and Ali Mabkhout at 90.

Al Ain wins the lead for the table with 44 points, while Al-Jazira remains seventh with 25 points.

The result extends Al Ain’s lead at the top of the table to four points ahead of Al Wahda before facing Dibba at home in matchweek 20. Meanwhile, Al Jazira freeze at seventh place with 25 points.

Lead Goal

Ten minutes into the game, Al Ain’s Hussein El Shahat received the ball at the edge of the box, went past Yaqoob Al Hosani before sending an inch-perfect cross for Marcus Berg who headed home from close range to open the scoring.

The Boss nearly doubled their lead when Caio Fernandes laid the ball at the edge of the box for El Shahat whose outside-of-the-foot volley went just inches off the post in the 16th minute.

Five minutes before the break, Al Ain were awarded a penalty kick when Mohannad Salem headed a cross into Berg’s path in the six yards box. The Swede’s shot hit Mohammed Al Musalammi’s hand earning him a yellow card after the referee referred to Video Assistant Referee (VAR). Caio stepped up to take the spot kick, but his shot was brilliantly saved by Ali Khaseif.

In the 68th minute, Khalifa Al Hammadi kicked Caio without the ball inside the box and Al Ain were given a second penalty of the night. This time, Abdulrahman converted successfully to double Al Ain’s lead.

Ten minutes before the final whistle, Romarinho received the ball at the edge of the box from substitute Khalfan Mubarak before firing low to pull one back for the home side.

Al Ain responded just two minutes later when they received a free kick just outside the box, Abdulrahman curled in from the set-piece to score his second and the visitors’ third goal of the night.

In extra time, Ali Mabkhout intercepted Ahmed Barman’s pass just outside the box, turned around and fired an unstoppable volley into the back of the net. His goal proved too little too late as the final whistle announced an important victory for Al Ain.
