The Croatian head coach of Al Ain FC opened the pre-match press conference of Al Ain against Al Nasr by reflecting on certain comments made by sport specialists that he always tries to find excuses for mistakes happen in his team’s matches. “I am not of the type of coaches who seek excuses. If this is true, we would not win the double historic titles in the last season while losing only one match despite the numerous absent players and injuries. I am just addressing objectively the actual issues I face which are not totally excuses,” he said.

Responding to a question on his assessment of Friday’s match, he said: “Certainly, it is a big challenge specially we are playing against a big team who looks to be a fierce competitor to reserve a leading position in the league’s standing table despite losing their two recent matches.” Zoran underlined that his main concern is on how to prepare his team and to play the match in the Boss’ style and exhibit the team’s genuine charisma on the pitch. He added: “I am stratified with the team’s preparations and we did hold three training sessions with full squad. Definitely, our aim is to do our best on the pitch and achieve the desired result.”

Commenting on a question whether he sees it is positive to play against Al Nasr again after only 11 days of the Cup’s match, he said: “I believe this is a positive thing, but my starting lineup will be completely different from the one we adopted in the Arabian Gulf Cup. We will play with our full squad! Al Nasr also enhanced their lines by contracting with the Spanish striker Álvaro Negredo. I know our mission will not be that easy, but I do believe in the potentials of Al Ain players, considering that we have the best players in the league.”

On the weather factor and expected absences in the Boss’ squad, he stated: “So far, we have no absences or injured players; yet there are some players suffer from the flu symptoms and we will assess the situation following the coming two training sessions. As for the weather, the situation will be difficult for both teams with an advantage for Al Nasr players who are used to playing under high levels of humidity contrary to Al Ain players.”
