Al Ain First Team has continued its preparations for the domestic season, which kicks off with an Arabian Gulf Cup game against Hatta on September 4.

Besides Al Ain and Hatta, Group A includes Al Jazeera, Al Nasr, Al Dhafra and Ajman.

The Garden City club will be missing services of eight international players who joined their national teams. Seven of them, namely Khalid Issa, Mohannad Salem, Ismail Ahmed, Mohamed Ahmad, Ahmed Barman, Mohamed Abdul Rahman and Omar Abdul Rahman, joined the UAE national team, in preparation for two games against Saudi and Iraq in the Asian qualifiers for the World Cup 2018 in Russia.

Sweden International Marcus Berg joined his national team in preparation for the game against Bulgaria in the European qualifiers for the World Cup 2018.

The training session was run by the Croatian Coach Zoran Mamic who arrived in the UAE yesterday after a flying visit to Zagreb, in which he checked on his brother’s medical condition.

Mamic looks forward to getting the team fully ready for the away match against Hilal of Saudi in the AFC Champions league quarter-final.

The coach is trying to prepare the player returning from injury, especially defenders Mohammed Fayez, Said Al Manhali and Fawzi Fayez as well as midfielder Amer Abdul Rahman, for the must-win AFC qualifier game.

Mamic is expected to give the chance for a number of confidence-seeking youngsters in the cup match.
