We Have a Firm Will to Win the Home Team and Exert More Pressure on Top Team

“You know that everyone felt disappointed after the final match of the President’s Cup. All that I could say is that we did not deserve to lose that match, and such things happen in football games,” Sergiy Rebrov stated in the pre-match press conference of matchweek 25 of ADNOC Pro League against Al Wasl held this evening.

He added: “We must close the chapter of that match and move forward. We should focus on the remaining championships considering we still have a good chance to win their titles. We analyzed the players’ performance in the recent match, and I could say that the last 15 minutes were incredible. Now we should learn from our mistakes and prepare seriously for our match against Al Wasl, and players should understand that we would fight to win the match as long as we still have a chance.”

The head coach of the Boss squad emphasized: “I assure everybody that we still have a chance to win the league title, and we have to keep pressure on Shabab Al Ahli. Therefore, we must focus on ourselves and our affairs and enjoy high concentration during any upcoming match regardless of the opponent.”

As for the team’s preparations for the next match, he said: “I consider our matches against Al Wasl as derby and has exceptional flavor. I still remember our matches against Al Wasl in the cup championships, where you could find stands full of fans with an enthusiastic atmosphere. Also, the last match we played at home was excellent, and although we were down by one man, we won the guests. I believe this gives the players a high level of self-confidence.

Rebrov stressed that they should focus on the team’s affairs and not the opponent and that everyone should know that the players enjoy high morale and exhibit such enthusiasm on the pitch.

“I do not pay attention to the opponent’s motives to win the next match, but I only focus on my team affairs. We analyzed the opponent’s performance and identified their strengths. However, without focusing on ourselves and showing our genuine level on the pitch, we could not win the matches,” he stated.

Rebrov commented on a question about the players’ current status, he said: “The players were feeling exhausted after the last match against Sharjah, as they did their best. That was evident during the penalty shootouts. We still have 48 hours before the match to assess the players’ conditions. However, I am sure that all of them have a strong desire to play matches in defense of the Club’s crest, and the players who are 100% ready will certainly participate in the next match.”

“However, we will miss the efforts of defender Tin Jedvaj after he finally felt pain in his stomach posterior muscle,” he concluded.
