When he was a player in Al Ain FC during 2002-2012, part of Al Ain loyal fans called him the “handsome” and some of them would have preferred to name him after the former Uruguayan star Avaro “Recoba” who was playing for Italy’s Inter Milan for his high-quality skills and potentials to make the difference. He is also known for his athleticism and gentleness and classy treatment. It is Shehab Ahmad who is “currently” assumes the position of Assistant Head Coach of Al Ain U-12 Football Team.

In his memories of the Derby matches between Al Ain and Al Wahda, Shehab said: “Allah Almighty helped me to score in the nets of Al Wahda memorable goals in my stunning record while playing for Al Ain. I scored the winning goal in Etisalat Cup finale 2009 and that match ended by 1-0 in favor of Al Ain.”

“I was tackled in Al Wahda box and Adelson scored our leading goal prior scoring Al Ain’s second goal against Al Wahda in the final match of the President’s Cup when Al Ain was crowned by its title in 2005 winning the match by 3-1,” said he.

Moments

As for his happiest moments while playing for Al Ain, he said: “Every moment I spend in this lofty entity is my “happy” moments.” He stated one of the critical moments in his career by saying: “Indeed, there are certain milestones in my career, most importantly is that when I scored against Al Wahda in 2009. I was crying while my teammates were so happy by the goal because I felt that Germany’s Winfried Schaefer who was the head coach at that time gave me the chance I wanted in that match following being locked in the bench. I was dealt fairly in that most important match in that season.”

Words

Out of words and phrases I still remember prior Al Ain and Al Wahda clash matches during 2005-2010 are “Keep Close Eye on Shehab”. This phrase was always echoed by Al Wahda’s fans through the programs specialized in the fans affairs and went viral in internet sites and was used in each “Derby” match since then.”

Expectations

On his expectations of the result of tonight’s “Derby”, Shehab emphasized: “I believe that “Derby” matches do not recognize the language of expectations, but it is certain that tonight’s match will be a heated clash, given that Al Wahda this season has retrieved their fighting soul and back to compete to win the title of the Arabian Gulf League following long time of absence of crowning podium.” He added: “I think the challenge language will dominate the details of the match and the standings of the stadium. Anyway, it is a healthy phenomenon and personally I expect that Al Ain will win Al Wahda by 2-1.”
