In the pre-match press conference dedicated for matchwekk3 of ADNOC Pro League against Al Jazira, Laba Kodjo said that we are preparing well and as planned for Al Jazira match.

He added: “As you know that the coming match is “Derby” and we all that it will not be easy. In such type of matches, we must to show high level of concentration to win the home team. Indeed, winning such games is 50% for each team as both teams enjoy high quality and good players as well. All of us well aware of these facts and we will focus to achieve a positive result in this match.”

Replying to a question on his desire not to celebrate his super hat-trick in Al Dhafra match, he said: “As you know, sometimes when you score a goal you focus on adding more goals and this is why you do not exaggerate celebrating. Do not forget also the weather factor as we try our best to save our energy to continue the match. In such cases, all you can do is to raise your hands to thank God and to thank my partner who assisted me in scoring the goals. This is enough to celebrate scoring a goal and a sign of being happy even if you do not run to celebrate with your teammates.”

Al Ain squad striker and top scorer pointed out: “It is a fact that Al Ain Club enjoys the domination climate of the family spirit. Ainawi fans are an essential member of this one family, and we as a one team always communicate with each other both on and off the pitch. Even the new players, they feel they are comfortable and everyone is dealing as one family in a positive atmosphere in the changing room.”

Laba addressed a message to the fans saying: “As always, the Ainawi fans are very important to the players. They give us the feeling that we are twelve against eleven and I ask them to come to the stadium to give the players the incentive to win.”

On his expectations for his team’s against Al Jazira, he said: “For me, I respect the Al Jazira team a lot, as they have many good players who are highly skilled. The winning percentage in this type of matches is always equal, i.e. 50% for each team.”

Replying to a question on whether this season will witness a high competition for the title of the league top scorer, he said: Ali Mabkhout is a good player. He scored many goals and the he is the top historical scorer in the UAE league and the national team as well. He is a great player and I highly respect him. We are actually still at the beginning and I am not thinking of the league’s top scorer now, but I only focus on playing matches and getting the three points for any match. Indeed, this the most important thing and serving the best interests of the team. As I always say, we work for the team and not for the personal goals of the players.”

He added: “We, as strikers, aim to score goals. Like last season, if we score a goal, we try to score the second and third.”

He concluded his statement saying: “I always work to improve my performance and be better than the last season and the same applies for each striker.
