Al Ain’s Goal Each Season is to Win the League

I Expect Massive Support from Al Ain Fans in Al Jazira Club’s Stadium

To Continue Winning Competitors is Much Important than Winning a Match with Bulky Goals

“We must close the chapter of the previous season as we had already celebrated that moment and the titles we won. Players are to forget about the previous season since our first match this season against Ajman. We have to be serious in all matches we are playing this season,” Sergiy Rebrov opened the pre-match press conference dedicated for matchwekk3 of ADNOC Pro League against Al Jazira.

He added: “As for Al Jazira Team, we succeeded to defeat them twice in the previous season; however, they are still a strong team and this dictates to prepare and play seriously, given it is away match. It is an important match for Al Ain as any other match. Again, I want to stress that we have to forget our achievements of the previous season, to be serious and play a strong match.”

Rebrov put an accent on the fact that Al Ain competes themselves only and that the players got no option expect to forget about the previous season. He considers it a critical issue this season.

He also stated that I explained to the players that we are competing with ourselves and not to forget that in the 2019-2020 season the team was placed 6th on the standing table. Yet, the team was highly motivated and he hoped that the team will keep it up this season as well.

The Boss coach pointed out: “The current season is similar to the previous one in terms of changing coaches which one of the main features of the UAE league. If the team did not achieve good results, they believe that it is all about the coach and he should be changed. I see this season This year, I see many big names of coaches and even players who have joined the UAE League this season, such as Miralem Pjanić, who was playing last season with Barcelona.”

He also lauded the Emirati clubs’ teams for the progress in performance which makes this league difficult for everyone.

“For me, that is interesting, but at the end of the day we have to focus on our own affairs and show respect to our competitors,” Rebrov said.

Commenting on a question about whether he considered the next match against Al Jazira is critical, he said: “I do not think it is a critical match. We are still in the third round of the league and there are many matches. We have just started the new season and everything is subject to change in the league. I always refer to my principle in my football career “Don’t worry about the endings.” Rather, we have to focus on each match separately, and the next match is always the most important match. The last round was against Al Dhafra, which we won 7-0, and we have to forget about it and focus on the next match, no matter who the team is. We also have to focus on ourselves maintain a high level of concentration during the next match so that we can snatch the three points.”

Commenting on a question about his team’s strong result and the 7-0 victory over Al Dhafra, he said: “I believe that the match was going well, but after the Al Dhafra player received the red card, the match actually ended and the result indicated that Al Ain advanced 3-0.”

He went on to say: “But I am happy to score many goals in matches and I believe we will see more people in the stands next match, taking into account the team won the previous match 7-0.”

He stressed that the presence of the audience is very important for the team. He said: “We play for them and I believe we showed our capabilities in that match. However, in the end it does not mean for us more than 3 points. I told the players yesterday that it is better to win seven games 1-0 rather than winning a competitor by seven goals in one game. This means that we are winning 21 points.”

He indicated that this is why that Al Ain Team’s players have to turn the page of that game and focus on the next one. He described it as it represents only three points for the Boss and despite its importance, it is no more than three points.

Rebrov hailed the fans support at home and in away matches. He said: “Regardless of the number of fans attending the team’s matches. I am sure we will see massive presence of Ainawi fans in Al Jazira stadium and we will play hard to make them happy. We always achieve positive results together and get points in every match. I hope to see them there.”

Regarding the expected absent or injured players, he said: “I always say that we still have 48 hours, but certain players suffer from minor injuries after the last match. Yet, all of them have the desire to play this type of matches and they have already joined recovery programs and are preparing seriously for the next match.”

Rebrov concluded his speech by saying: “Al Ain squad’s goal every season is to win the league title. We will do our best to achieve this goal.”
