We Must Close the Previous Season’s Chapter.. Rebrov: We Lost Three Points, and We Must Focus and Prepare for Our Next Match
“It was an interesting match as it is of the favorite type for the fans and spectators for the goals scored and intensity, but not for the head coaches in terms of the result,” Sergiy Rebrov opened the post-match press conference of matchweek 7 of ADNOC Pro League against Al Wahda held at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium on Saturday 15th October 2022.
The head coach of Al Ain added: “We did create chances to score but failed to turn them into goals.”
Sergiy stated that his team conceded two goals by the end of the first half and then conceded the third goal in the second half, it was challenging to reduce the gap.
He pointed out that the squad players did their best to return to the match by equalizing the result until the last minute.
“We made the essential substitutions, changed the playing style, and improved the performance, but we failed to change the result. Actually, we lost three points tonight, and we must focus and be well-prepared for the next match,” Sergiy stated.
Responding to a question on the difference between the current and past seasons in terms of results and performance, he said: “No difference, indeed. We could not compare the two seasons, and we should close the chapter of the past season. We must focus on the current season, and challenges are not easy, particularly in such types of these matches. Of course, when we receive a goal, players’ morale declines, but I still have absolute trust in the players’ potential, and we are facing issues in the style of defense at the whole team’s level. We are working on it and will see.”
As for the problems that the team’s back and middle lines face, he said: “When I talked about the defense problem we are facing, I was talking about the whole team’s level, not an individual player. The whole squad must fulfill the defensive and offensive obligations and roles.”
