Commenting on his squad’s 2-3 loss to Al Nasr at Round 3 of the AGL Competition, Al Ain’s Croatian coach attributed the loss to the mental and physical exhaustion suffered by his men following their 3-1 anguishing win over Qatar’s El Jaish 3 days ago.
“As a result, our rivals took advantage of our 3 deadly mistakes and scored. They deserved a win and I here congratulate them,” he said.

He bitterly regretted his team’s deteriorating results in the AGL competition over the past 2 seasons; “However, our chance is not over yet; we must make up for our last 2 losses,” he added.

He agreed that he needed to recruit some Emirati players; “I told you earlier that I recommended some local players to enhance our back-line in my last report to the management; hopefully, we can headhunt good players, but from outside the bench, who can guarantee the desired addition to the team,” he explained.

He added that he AGL competition had proved his viewpoint that that there was a need to strengthen the team’s lines with efficient players. “This is not to blame my current players, but it stresses our desire to compete powerfully in the AGL Competition. As for today’s loss to Al Nasr, I personally assume full responsibility,” he confirmed.

Asked why he does not rely on the back-up team in the AGL Competition, Zlatko pointed out some challenges; “For example, the performance of Mohamed Abdurrahman dropped after he came back from the National team and we had to rehab him to regain his previous level of performance; some other players are injured. Honestly speaking, our deteriorating results in the AGL competition kill me as a coach; but I’ll do my best to secure a powerful comeback.” He concluded.
