Stressed the Importance of Winning the Match Against Al Sharjah

In the pre-match press conference, the Croatia’s Head Coach of Al Ain First Team Zoran Mamic emphasized that his team is required to carry on achieving the good results when they face Al Sharjah FC on Saturday 28th October at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.

He stated: “During the last round, the opposing team exhibited a good performance due to their great discipline and strong desire to achieve a positive result. However, we will absolutely do our best to snatch the three points and maintain our lead position at the top of the standing table of the League.”

Responding to a question on whether his team is suffering any pressures for topping the AGL standing table, he said: “Pressures are part of our work because we are required to win in all matches. Indeed, being at the top of the standing table does not cause any pressures on Al Ain team who is accustomed to be the first. However, we have to focus on showing the best level of performance away from thinking about being the leading team of the League.”

He commented on a question on critiques made by the media and fans regarding his team’s unconvincing performance despite holding the top place in the standing table by saying: “I respect the views of the media and fans, but I do not have to agree with them and we can talk for hours about the team’s performance and ways and means of developing the level of performance. Last season, Al Ain did a great job and showed a high level of performance but they lost important points playing against teams not competing for the title. This season, they managed to snatch the points playing against title-competing and non-competing teams.”

“There are things related to the team which I discuss with the technical staff and the Club’s Management and others which we discuss in changing room with the players. Of course, I am not looking for any excuses or justifications regarding the performance of the team. Absolutely, our focus is limited to achieve victories and everyone has the right to express his opinion but I do not always agree with all views,” added he.

He went on to say: “Performance without results does not mean anything and what do you think is better: to play good and loose points or the other way around! I leave it for you to answer this question.” He further explained: “Personally, I want to win all matches by 5-0 but we have to be realistic when dealing with such things with all due respect to the wishes and desires of the others as they are legitimate but we always seek to address and tackle our problems in the right manner.”

Zoran was initiative and asked the media representatives to do him a favor by saying:  “Would you please write me a report on how Al Ain should play? And which local teams you think the Boss should copy?”

He added: “As any other coach, I hope that my team’s performance on the pitch will be the best. Yet, I am facing difficult circumstances as my team currently is missing Amoory, Ismail Ahmad and Ajab and not to forget Lee Myung who left the team. We just got Amer Abdul Rahman and Ryan Yaslam back after eight months of injury medical treatment and Douglas following being absent for six months. Indeed, we are currently playing with the tactics that suits us concentrating to achieve the best results.”

With regard to absences in the coming match against Al Sharjah, he said: ” This time we are missing efforts of a number of players, including: Omar Abdul Rahman, Ismail Ahmed, Mohammed Abdul Rahman, Bandar Al Ahbabi and Mohammed Ahmed in addition to players absent due to old injuries.”

By the end of the press conference, Zoran Mamic expressed his deep pleasure for the humanitarian initiative announced by Al Ain Club to honor the Ainawi fan, Yassin Suleiman by saying: “It is wonderful to show the spirit of one family in the club including the Cub’s Management, players, technical staff and the fans. I wish Yassin from my heart speed recovery.”
