I Do Not Prefer to Talk About Disciplinary Decisions and Match Officials

Zoran Mamic, Al Ain’s Head Coach, confirmed that his team is fully ready to encounter Shabab Al Ahli Dubai in week 3 of the Arabian Gulf League and to show their best to snatch the three points. He stated in the pre-match press conference: “I expect a strong confrontation on Friday at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, specially we are playing against a good team with complete lines, besides having quality and distinguished players. They will play with full six points in hands by winning their two past matches they played in the competition.”

Commenting on a question on his viewpoint on being suspended for two consecutive matches and whether he has any concerns that referees’ decisions might negatively affect the result of this coming match, he said: “Personally, I do not prefer to talk about disciplinary decisions and issues related to referees. However, I watched several matches held in the past two weeks of the current competition and previous matches between Al Ain and Al Ahli where referees committed serious mistakes. I really do not know what justifications could be made to explain committing such mistakes.” He also stated: “The suspension decision taken against me was not normal, but as I told you, I do not prefer to talk about such things.”

He added: “I expect that the match officials nominated for this match will be fully geared up to manage this coming top-level match. I do wish them all the best in assisting and protecting the players of the two teams and not to commit serious mistakes.”

“We certainly show the due respect to all our competitors, especially Shabab Al Ahli Dubai. For this reason, we do not have to think about the position and conditions of our competitor as much as we are focusing on preparing ourselves up to the required right manner to win the challenge,” said he in response to a question on his assessment to the level of strength of Shabab Al Ahli Dubai following the merge decision.

He added: “I believe that the merge of the three clubs has resulted in having a pool of players. Yet, the head coach of the team will find it difficult to manage such diversity of players and the so many options he has. Definitely, Cosmin is a good coach and one of the best coaches at the State level and enjoys the skills to manage such a situation in the best way.”

As for the expected absences in his starting lineup, he said: “The team will miss the efforts of Omar Abdel Rahman due to injury. Also, Ismail Ahmed has not reached the required level of readiness yet and he could not play for 90 minutes, so he will play only for a short period of time.” He hailed the performance of his two players Mohammed Ahmed and Mohannad Al Enezi by saying: “I would like to avail this opportunity to thank both players for their significant and stunning performance during the team’s past matches.”

On the absence of “Amoory” in this match and its influences on the team, he commented: “For sure “Amoory” is an influential player in the team, but I do not prefer to talk about the impact of the presence or absence of a certain player. It is a fact that Al Ain squad retains the best players who are accountable and fully ready to cover the absence of any player.”

At the end of the press conference he responded to a question on whether he is suffering from any pressures as fans are requiring him to win titles by saying: “Every coach has the ambition to win the glorious titles!! Al Ain is a big team and it is typical that all its members, including the management, staff, players and the team’s passionate fans are aiming at winning the titles. Frankly speaking! I have no pressures whatever.”
