Inaugurating the post-match conference held following the end of Al Ain and Al Nasr match, Croatia’s Head Coach of Al Ain Team Zoran Mamic, he congratulated his players for their deserved win over Al Nasr by 2-1.

He emphasized: “We played one of our best matches at AGL today with a strong start. Yet, after the elapse of the first 10 minutes, players committed some mistakes and we conceded a goal due to the opponent’s offensive power. This did not take long and we were able to regain control in the second half though the rivals had some chances but the team dealt with them in the right manner and we were able to score two goals. Personally, I do hope that we will be able to finish all our games in the same way and we are now focusing on our match against Al Dhafra.”

“During the past period, the team suffered from several injuries. Today, we regained Mohammed Abdul Rahman “Ajab” whom I believe if he is in the proper degree of readiness required and moved away from certain causes of pressure will be the best player in the Arabian Gulf League. He enjoys the potentiates and qualities that enable him to make the difference in the pitch. He only needs more intensive sessions of training,” said he in response to a comment on his assessment of the injured players who have rejoined the team recently.

He said: “Omar Abdel Rahman rejoined Al Ain team after spending four weeks receiving medical treatment following his injury, and then he directly joined the national team.” He commented on that decision by saying: “It is indeed a problem because any injured player who completes his recovery program needs physical preparation besides enrolling special rehabilitation programs to regain his level of performance. Lack of coordination with clubs is not appropriate simply because players should spend more good time with their clubs to be well prepared in the best manner, and so they will be definitely of an added value to UAE national team.”

“Two weeks ago, I sent an official letter to UAE Football Association addressed to the Secretary General and Head Coach of UAE National Team coach, Alberto Zaccheroni, but I have received no response so far,” added he. He went on to say: “I just wonder what is the ideal mechanism to communicate and coordinate between the clubs and UAEFA as this is an important issue and will reflect positively on UAE football at the level of UAE clubs and national team.”

He underlined the fact that: “Football players are not machines! Coordination is necessary to maintain their physical status away from thinking unilaterally because we have common and joint interests. Indeed, preparation of players should be carried out according the modern scientific method as “exhaustion” of international players will result in negative points rather advantages.” Zoran mentioned the case of Amer Abdulrahman who was exposed to injury due to the lack of coordination and said” “the player was away from fields for long time and rejoining the team should have been gradual, but he played with UAE national team two full matches!”

Commenting on a question regarding a statement he made on not consulting him on Amoory’s trip to Bangkok, he said: “My statement was limited to coordination with the UAEFA. How can they send a player during the league for four days and coming back prior 24 hours of his team’s official match in the league?” He concluded by saying: “This is not normal! What would be the reaction if the player is exposed to injury?”
