Al Ain and UAE National Football Team defender, Mohamed Ahmed, confirmed that the team’s preparations for the Super Cup clash match are going as planned exactly as any other match. “However, we all recognize the significance of the coming challenge against a quality team like Al Wahda and how important for us to win our first titles in this new season. This indeed requires high concentration form the kick off whistle until the last minute,” said he.
“As everybody knows, all the international players joined the team only two days ago following the end of the UAE national team training camp, but we are so determined to do our best in the pitch and wish my team all the best in today’s match,” added he.
In response to a question on the historic victories over Al Ain’s classical rival, Al Wahda, in the past season, he said: “Actually, such victories are now something of the past. Today, we are facing a new challenge and a different championship. We will deal with the coming confrontation by a different mentality and plans.” He pointed out that Al Wahda has their own ambitions to clinch the title but the Boss with their strong charisma and high potentials will be able to win more titles this new exceptional season with several challenges awaiting the whole squad. He stressed that the team has a crystal-clear target and expressed his wishes to inaugurate this season by winning this dearest cup exactly like what the team did by the end of the last season when they concluded the season by winning the President’s Cup.
Commenting on a question on repeating the same scenario of his unforgettable goal against Al Wahda in the past season, he said: “As I have stated earlier, the results of our team against Al Wahda became something of the past. Indeed, it is not important how many goals you score but who the team who wins the match as football is a collective game relying heavily on the integration of player’s roles in all positions. I assure you and all our loyal fans that we will spare no efforts to win the match and be committed to carry out our tasks in the optimal way and keep our net clean.”
He added: “It is not a secret to tell you that I have great memories of the match in which I scored the winning goal given the circumstances accompanied the match and the massive volume of excitement due to the intense competition between the two teams to put firm hands on the top place of the league.” He concluded: “It not necessarily to score a similar goal, but it is important to win the match and fly back home winning the title which I am sure will make our loyal fans so happy.”
