“Preparations for the coming match against Bani Yas are underway as planned,” Sergiy Rebrov opened the pre-match press conference dedicated to his team matchweek 11 of ADNOC Pro League against Bani Yas Team.

He pointed out that he stated in several press statements that the most crucial aspect to focus on these days is the players’ recovery and tactics of playing.

Ahead of the match to be played Tuesday, 20th December, at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium he confirmed that most of the players feel exhausted due to the team’s tight schedule and the pressure of matches. However, he pointed out that players adapt well to such circumstances.

The head coach of the Al Ain squad added: “We should close the chapter of the Al Wahda match and prepare well and seriously for the next league match, given the team’s position on the standing table. This is why we must focus more and be serious in all matches, most importantly next match that will be held at home.”

As for his expectations for the match against Bani Yas following qualifying for the semifinal match of the ADIB Cup, he said: “I expect that we are playing against a different opponent who is different from Al Wahda or Dibba Al Fujairah. However, I stated that we are playing at home and have to focus on our affairs.”

“Back to the recent match against Al Wahda, we did not play well in the first half but massively improved in the second half. Unfortunately, this frequently happened in many matches this season. Therefore, we must focus on ourselves and improve the team’s performance, specifically in the first half,” he said.

He said his team’s performance improves when they concede a goal, and the score screen shows the result as 0-1.

“We have to play strongly as of the kickoff whistle. I am sure the players could do so, but they have to be self-confident and not wait until mistakes are committed. We have to win the opponents deservedly by showing our quality and self-confidence on the pitch,” he pointed out.

Commenting on the injury of Matias Palacios, he said: “Unfortunately, we will miss Matias Palacios in the next two matches, and we hope he will recover during the one-month break. We hope he will rejoin the team soon as he can enhance the team’s strength. He is a quality player and helps his teammates very well. Unfortunately, he could not continue the match against Al Wahda Team after the end of the first half. He felt so sad for being unable to help his teammates. We pray for him for a speedy recovery and hope to see him again with the team as he is one of the important players in our squad.”

The head coach addressed a message to the Ainawi fans stating that he always feels happy to see the fans behind the team because they play for the fans regardless of their number. Therefore, he hoped to see the fans in substantial numbers.

He concluded his statement: “I have to admit that fans always motivate the players to fight hard, and I am sure they will come to the stadium, considering that the match will be held at home. So we are fighting for them and Al Ain City.”
