His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, officially crowned Al Ain Football Club with the coveted trophy of the President’s Cup following thrashing Al Wasl by 2-1 in the match held at Zayed Sports City. By that result, the “Boss” concluded its current local season by winning the double historic titles as the team was able to win the Arabian Gulf League Title and the President’s Cup Title for the first time and to engrave in golden letters new lines in the history of Al Ain full of great achievements.

Attacking from the start, Al Ain didn’t have to wait for long to open the account as an unmarked Ismail Ahmad darted in to meet a looping Omar Abdul Rahman corner kick for the first goal in the third minute and taking the early lead.

They came close to doubling their advantage in the 22nd minute when Omar Abdul Rahman lay for Hussain Al Shahat, but the Egyptian winger’s meek try failed to beat Yousuf Al Zaabi on the Al Wasl goal.

Al Ain successfully imposed an absolute control over the course of the match playing in the team’s own style of exerting high-pressure form depth and flanks pushing Al Wasl to retreat to their defense area and rely on the counter attacks through long and high passes and the speed of Al Wasl players on flanks.

In the 25 minute of the match, Fabio Lima sent a powerful free kick from at the edge of Al Ain’s box, but it hit the bar and then diverted outside the line to be a goal kick.

The Swedish international striker Marcos Berg missed an ideal opportunity to boost his team’s lead in the added time of the first half after receiving a “deft” pass from Al Ain’s skipper Amoory. Is shot missed the left post by a whisker to be a goal kick. Shortly, the match referee whistled announcing the end of the first half and board was showing 1-0 in favor of Al Ain.

The match referee granted Ismael Ahmad a second yellow card to be sent off with a red card in his pocket at “77” leaving his team down by one man.

In the dying minutes of the match “91”, Ciao added a consolation goal for Al Wasl, whose trophy drought wait will continue into its ninth year and the match ended 2-1.
