Following undergoing successful surgery in the fibula bone and ankle ligaments on Sunday 27th September 2020 at Tawam Hospital, Al Ain Team striker, Jamal Marouf, rejoined his teammates at their quarantine residence. He completes the quarantine period as per the circulars issued by the competent authorities regarding arrivals to Abu Dhabi from abroad.

Marouf expressed his great pleasure with the warm welcome and the bouquets of roses he received from all the delegation members upon his arrival to the hotel.

He stated: “The spirit of the one family always dominates the Al Ain Club atmosphere with their exceptional initiatives.”

“I would like to thank my teammates, coaching teams, admin and medical staff, and Al Ain fans for their encouragement and their sincere wishes of a speedy recovery. Indeed, their support remarkably raised my spirits before and after the surgery,” Marouf stated.

As for his insistence on returning and continuing to play even though he seemed affected by the injury during the team’s last match against Saudi Arabia Al Nasr, he said: “Since my heart attached to our big club, there is an important thing that I learned in my football career, that is when fate allows you to wear the “Boss” badge, you should not miss the opportunity to feel real pride and show the fighting spirit from the first moment until the end of your mission.”

“Although the team’s results during ACL-2020, which were not as expected, winning the result of our last match was important to us. Everyone was working to achieve this goal.”

He pointed out that when the doctor asked him to leave the pitch, he insisted on keeping going as he was self-motivated to continue the match and win the challenge with his fellow players. “The inner feelings that dominate you while defending the Boss badge cannot be described in the most eloquent terms.”

As for the medical treatment that might extend for six months, he said: “Thank God, and I am a true believer in fate. At the same time, I realize that the most important challenge for me is hard work and commitment to treatment programs to rejoin the team soon. My confidence is great in God and then the Medical Committee of Al Ain Football Club Company, who are so dedicated to following up on the players’ conditions’ smallest details. I wish my team all the best of luck in upcoming competitions.”

Jamal Marouf went on to say: “I also would like to thank the Board of Directors of the Al Ain Football Club Company, chaired by H.E. Dr. Matar Al Darmaki for their follow-up of my case and continuous calls and visits to me throughout the past period. I also thank the Medical Committee at Al Ain Club chaired by Dr. Talal Khazraji, along with Dr. Husam Rahma, the Orthopedic Surgery Consultant, Head of Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Department at Tawam Hospital and member of the Al Ain Club’s Medical Committee, who supervised the surgery.”

He concluded his statement by extending his sincere appreciation to his fellow players and Al Ain fans to support him in all circumstances.
