Al Ain’s marquee summer signing, Marcus Berg, has expressed happiness and satisfaction of the team performance in the preseason.
No limits for the team ambitions in the new season, the Sweden international said, pointing out that the team is about to finish preparation for the new season that will start with the Asian Champions League quarter-final against Al Hilal.
“With due respect to the ambitions of the Saudi team, we are very confident that the team will achieve a “strong result” that will pave our way towards the semi-final of the continental tournament, especially in the home game among our fans and on one of the best stadiums in the whole world,” Berg said.
Commenting on the Garden City, Berg said that Al Ain is wonderful, quiet and beautiful; stressing that he likes living in the city. For sure the temperature here is high, but I prefer the hot weather, the striker added.
“My impression is good because everything in the club is distinguished, starting from the stadiums, facilities and possibilities to the club management, coach and players,” Berg said, stressing that all are keen on achieving the desired goals in the current season at the local and continental levels.
Days ago, the team wrapped up its preseason overseas in an excellent way, he said, pointing out that all exerted the utmost effort to get the targeted gains and raise the degree of readiness, allowing the team to achieve the best results in the new season.
With high morale, the Garden City Club’s football team continued their preparations for their Asian Champions League quarter-final against Al Hilal of Saudi, slated for August 21 at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium.
Manager Zoran Mamic seeks to pursue its positive results with the “Boss” in the Asian tournament. The Croatian coach led the team to dismantle Iran’s Esteghlal 6-2 on aggregate.
The fans of the UAE giants are very optimistic as the Croatian coach is likely to use a new strategy of having two strikers in the starting XI, after signing Berg and getting the Brazilian Striker Douglas back.
The fans are keen on following up the team training sessions to support the players in order to clinch a strong result in the home game against Al Hilal before the away game, slated for September 11.
