The Croatian Coach, Zoran Mamic, the head coach of Al Ain FC, congratulated his team players for beating Hatta Club, emphasizing that ” We controlled the game throughout the 90 minutes, and our positioning on the field was good. Yet, we missed the final touch in numerous occasions to score in the goal of our opponent throughout the game “.
During the match post-press conference, Zoran said, “Hatta team managed, in certain moments of the game, to build up counterattacks which posed a threat on Al Ain goal. The lesson that we must always learn from such matches is to seek to take the lead at the earliest.”
He added, “Winning today’s game does not only mean gaining the three points, but also some of the new faces gained confidence, as we watched a number of under 21 team players participating, whom I think will have a promising future in the first team. Of course, the participation of these young players give them the needed confidence, because I find the solutions in some of them in light of the cases of absences and injuries we are suffering from.”
For reason behind substituting Asprilla, he said: “I think the player was away from participation for a long time due to injury, and my decision to get him substituted was predetermined before the game, and that he is to play one half only. This is because we are in a need for the player’s efforts during our local and Asian games. So, he should participate in games gradually.”
In response to a question as to whether his decision to give confidence to the young players was based on that his team chances to compete for the title of the league is declining, he said: “Of course no!! But the main purpose was to give the opportunity to all players, as we are required not to waste any point in the league and we are getting prepared for AFC Champions League, the matter which requires getting good solutions in place within the team squad in light of the conditions of injuries or when some players punished by suspension”.
