UAE Judo shines in Arab Cairo Tournament ..
Ahmed Al-Jack Snatches the Gold Medal, Yazan Won the Silver, and Mansour Heavyweight Bronze Medal

On the second day of launching the Arab Open Judo Championship for teams and clubs, the 10th juniors Championship, the 8th for Women and Youth, the 6th for Women, the 5th for the Cubs, the 4th for the Juniors, and the 1st for the Blind Men and Women, the UAE National Judo Team won 3 precious metals (gold, silver and bronze).

Despite the sports activity suspension of the UAE Wrestling and Judo Association since two seasons ago, in line with the health directives due to the previous precautionary measures that led to the disruption of internal and external activities at the level of age groups. The urgent Sports General Authority circular issued recently to all sports entities came with immediate approval to organize U-18 competitions and local championships.

The Arab Cairo Championship witnessed the domination of the star player of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club, Ahmed Al-Jak, who won the gold medal. Ahmad won the final match when he played against Egyptian Al-Obour Club player Ahmed Zaki in the weight U-73 kg. Yazan Murshid won the silver medal in the U-50 kg. Meanwhile, Sharjah Sports Club player Mansour Jumaa Abdul Rahman snatched the bronze medal in the U-90 kg weight category although he was so close to win the gold medal of the competition.

The Arab Judo Championship was held in the indoor hall of the Cairo International Stadium and organized by the Egyptian Judo Association under the supervision of the Arab Judo Federation.

The championship was launched under the patronage and presence of H.E. Dr Ashraf Subehi, Minister of Youth and Sports and the Egyptian Olympic Committee, Eng. Noman Shaher, President of the Arab Judo Federation, Eng. Moti’ Fakhreddin, President of the Egyptian Judo Federation, members of the Arab Judo Federation, and heads of delegations participating in the championships.

The championship witnesses the participation of about 600 male and female players from 10 Arab countries, including Egypt, the organizing country for the championship, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Morocco, Tunisia, Iraq, Jordan, and Yemen.

H.E. Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Deri, President of the UAE Wrestling and Judo Association, hailed the efforts exerted by the UAE National Judo Team during the matches of the Arab Championship hosted by the Republic of Egypt.

He also commended efforts exerted by the member clubs in supporting the game players and providing the training equipment which was reflected on the players’ technical level. The excellent level of players received commendation from the Judo game experts during the championship.

Al Deri congratulated the brilliant coaches of the participating clubs and the national team for their dedicated efforts which contributed to showing the exceptional skills.
He said: “The championship resulted in identifying new talented and promising players at the level of the participating Arab countries. They will be big names in the game in the very near future.”

Al Deri concluded his statement by emphasizing the fact the future champions deserve honor, praise and care.
