Hazza bin Zayed inspects EmiratesSkills National Competition

(WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, today explored the latest methods developed by the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, ACTVET, for manufacturing furniture using 3D printing, as well as the way it trains Emirati students on this latest global technology, which was developed for the first time in the Middle East.

Sheikh Hazza stated that such advanced technologies were made possible by the efforts of the wise leadership, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and their brothers, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, to enable the ACTVET and other national institutions to create qualified future generations who specialise in various industrial and technological sectors.

He made this statement while inspecting the activities of the 11th EmiratesSkills National Competition, which was organised by the ACTVET from 15th to 17th April in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, ADNEC, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF).

Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education; Dr. Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State; Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State, and others were present.

Sheikh Hazza toured the various pavilions of the competition, which include aircraft maintenance, car maintenance and robot design while Mubarak Al Shamsi, Director-General of the ACTVET, explained, to him, the competition’s programme, mechanisms and conditions, as well as the current and future plans of the competition and its development over 11 years.

The Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council met with 402 Emirati youths participating in the competition in 51 engineering, technological and technical categories, with the participation of leading national institutions, including the Ministry of Education, the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research, the Institute of Applied Technology, the Fatima College of Health Sciences, the Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute, ADVETI, and various national universities and educational institutions.

The competition will help establish the active role of the youth in achieving the country’s industrial future, which includes all engineering specialisations required to advance the UAE’s present and future, through many development projects that cover many areas, such as renewable energy, space and aerospace, he said.

“We are proud of the spirited competition between the youth, which highlights their capability to compete internationally, creating advanced and creative national generations who are qualified,” he added.

Sheikh Hazza called on the youth to continue their innovative research efforts, which will achieve their local, regional and international scientific aspirations.

Dr. Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State, said that the 11th edition of the competition reflects the advanced strategy supported by the wise leadership to create national manpower who are creative and capable of creating the future while highlighting the importance of discovering and training national adequacies and capabilities, and preparing promising generations of creative citizens who are capable of answering the requirements of social development and comprehensive industrial, economic and social advancement.

Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, said that the competition aims to discover and highlight the capabilities and skills of students of all educational institutions while affirming the keenness of the Ministry of Education to increase the number and categories of participating students to include people of determination, children and the youth.
