Al Deri: Fujairah Club’s Participation Reflected the Remarkable Level of Our Clubs
The Fujairah Martial Arts Club player Abdul Rahman Mohammed added a fourth medal to the UAE National Judo Team as part of the national team participation in the activities of the Arab Judo Championship.
The championship concludes Wednesday 15th September and the team is scheduled to fly back home on Thursday 16th September
The championship witnessed the participation of 625 male and female players from 10 Arab countries, at the level of teams and clubs for youth, juniors, women and the blind.
The UAE National Judo Team won four medals: one gold, two silver and one bronze medals. This achievement placed the Fujairah Martial Arts Club team among the first four teams of the junior category which includes 20 clubs, under the supervision of its coach Moh Al Mouh and the assistant coaching teams.
The championship witnessed the participation of the Emirati international referee, Ahmed Al Blooshi who ran the championship matches. His performance received substantial commendation.
On this occasion, H.E. Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Deri, President of the UAE Wrestling and Judo Association, said that what was achieved during the positive participation in the Arab Judo Championship, which witnessed the largest numerical participation in the history of Arab championships, is a wonderful indication of the return of Emirati judo to resume its local activity, which represents the right path for foreign participation despite the suspension of activity. The union, which extended for two consecutive years due to the Corona pandemic, so the participation in the Judo Arab was on time, which is reflected in the local activity in its new sports season next.
The head of the Emirates Wrestling and Judo Federation added: “There is no doubt that the participation of the Fujairah Martial Arts Club team in the Arab Judo Championship deserves admiration, and congratulations and thanks for its management, Chairman and Board of Directors members for the remarkable and advanced levels of quality skills the players exhibited during the Arab Jud Championship.”
He stated that such outstanding and subnational participation of teams in Cairo championship is an indicator of the return of the UAE judo clubs to resume their local activities and will have a positive impact on the advancement of the game, given that sports activities were suspended for two years due to the breakthrough of COVID-19.
We went on to say that the championship was held on time to give a boost to local activities in the coming season.
He signed off by saying the UAE Wrestling and Judo Association has new strategy and plans to spread and develop the game in all regions of UAE. The new strategy and plans will focus on all age categories.
