(WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has commended the UAE’s announcement on the selection of the first two Emirati astronauts: Hazza Ali Abdan Al Mansouri and Sultan Saif Hamad Al Neyadi, in cooperation with the Russian space agency, Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities.

The Emirati astronauts were among 4,000 young men and women who have been tested for the UAE Astronaut Programme, which aims to qualify and prepare Emirati astronauts for scientific missions in outer space.

One of the astronauts will fly into space next April as the first Emirati astronaut on a 10-day mission as part of the Russian space mission to the International Space Station aboard the Soyuz MS-12 spacecraft. The second astronaut will serve as a replacement.

Sheikh Hazza said that Al Mansouri and Al Neyadi are distinguished young Emiratis and they have been chosen to represent the UAE’s journey to space. While congratulating them, he also wished them all the best in their journey.

Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, praised the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to Al Asayel School in Abu Dhabi today, on the first day of the 2018/2019 school year.

Sheikh Hazza said that the visit represents the tireless monitoring of the affairs of students, according to precise and developed indicators, and is an example of granting students the attention they deserve and supporting their educational development, which will enable them to achieve accomplishments and successes, while remaining informed.

Sheikh Hazza explained that Al Asayel School is one of ten government schools that is using the Emirati “Alef System,” which follows the latest technological practices in the education process and the monitoring of students. The system is one of the initiatives of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to adopt smart education, which is a source of excellence, he added, while noting the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed for this key national sector, which is also vital to the nation’s future.

H.E. Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Derie, Chairman of Al Ain Club Investment Company, hailed the stunning performance of the players of the UAE National Football Olympic Team in Jakarta’s ASIAD 2018. He stressed: “The team’s performance indicator was progressing from match to another, and they were able to turn out all their great efforts, solid determination and genuine fighting spirit into a realty by winning the bronze medal by the end of the football competition. They indeed deserve to be on the crowning podium for a job well done.”

H.E. H.E. Mohammed Bin Thaloub Al Deri, Chairman of UAE Wrestling and Judo Association and Chairman of Al Ain Club Investment Company, hailed the achievements of the UAE champions in Jakarta’s Asiad 2018.
Bin Thaloub spoke with the Emirati player, Victor, who won the 73 Kg judo bronze medal following defeating Kyrgyzstan’s Pictor Risimam in the final round of Asian Games 2018. He praised the Emirati player’s performance and his stunning fighting spirit he exhibited against his opponent, Risimam.

Al Ain Sports and Culture Club celebrated the UAE Women’s Day at the Chairman’s Lounge in the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium. The celebration was attended by H.E. Ghanem Mubarak Al Hajeri, Chairman of Al Ain Club Football Company, H.E. Sultan Rashid, Board Member of Al Ain Club Football Company, H.E. Saleh Saeed Al Shuaili, Board Member of Al Ain Club Sports Company, and a number of public and private sector representatives and female employees of Al Ain Club.

The ceremony was inaugurated by rising to the national anthem and then a video highlighting the achievements of the UAE’s women was displayed. H.E. Ghanem Al Hajeri addressed a welcoming speech stating that “Today, we are celebrating with you the UAE Women’s Day under the theme “Women on the Course of Zayed”. The credit for paving the way for UAE women’s success goes for the founding father, the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who expressed in numerous occasions that “Nothing makes me happier than seeing women take their exceptional role in society, and nothing must obstruct their advancement.”

“The UAE woman has become a role model for all the women of the world and enjoys a prestigious position among her counterparts. The Emirati women has accomplished praiseworthy achievements in all fields of speciality,” added he. Al Hajeri stressed that marking the UAE Women Day underlines their critical role in the society and their contribution to the advancement of development process in the UAE in all international and regional events.

At the end of the ceremony, H.E. Ghanim Al Hajeri honoured the participating entities and Al Ain Club’s female employees by Al Ain Club’s shields. Then, a group photo was taken for all participants followed by a tour of the facilities of the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium.

“The Kingdom spares no effort to serve pilgrims coming from all over the world without discrimination against any fellow Muslims, and Saudi authorities have proved anew their ability to ensure successful management of the pilgrimage rituals.”

Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has commended the directives made by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to form a national emergency committee to provide relief assistance to people affected by flash floods in the Indian state of Kerala.

“The UAE’s noble initiative toward Kerala embodies the country’s commitment to the values of friendship, loyalty and goodness,” Sheikh Hazza said, noting that the humanitarian relief campaign reflects the nation’s determination to stand by its friends and supporting all peoples on earth.

Kerala has been battered by record monsoon rainfall this year and is facing the worst floods in 100 years.
