Three Victories in the Al Ain International Volleyball Championship
The opening round of the International Junior Volleyball Championship, held yesterday evening at Khalifa bin Zayed Sports Hall in Al Ain, saw three victories for Al Ain, Bahrain’s Al-Nassr, and Qatar’s Al-Rayyan.
The championship, organized by Al Ain Club under the patronage of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, in strategic partnership with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and in technical cooperation with the UAE Volleyball Association, runs from August 30 to September 4.
Al Ain opened their campaign with a 3–0 victory over Kuwait’s Burgan, while Bahrain’s Al-Nassr secured an identical 3–0 win against Qatar’s Al-Arabi. Qatar’s Al-Rayyan also defeated Kuwait’s Al-Qadsia 3–1.
The competition resumes tomorrow with three matches: Al Ain will face Kuwait’s Al-Qadsia, Burgan will take on Bahrain’s Al-Nassr, while Al-Rayyan and Al-Arabi will contest an all-Qatari encounter, as the teams look to improve their positions in the standings.
The championship is being played in a single round-robin format, with teams accumulating points to determine the final standings and the top-ranked sides.
The Organising Committee confirmed that the tournament is proceeding according to the approved organisational plan, with all services and facilities being provided to participating teams and spectators. This contributes to delivering a comprehensive sporting and organisational experience throughout the competition, while supporting the tournament’s objectives of developing a strong talent base and enhancing players’ competitive skills.
The committee also highlighted the high level displayed by the participating teams during the opening round, which took place in a sporting atmosphere reflecting the spirit of friendship and camaraderie among the players. Under the motto “No Losers in This Championship,” the tournament aims to develop players’ abilities and provide them with valuable competitive experience.
