In the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, the Asian Judo Federation bestowed the Medal of Tolerance upon H.E. Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Deri, the President of the UAE Wrestling and Judo Association, in recognition of his efforts in supporting and developing the game and his valuable contributions in laying the values of tolerance and love among the members of the game at the Asian and international levels.

Kuwait’s Obeid Zayed Al Enezi, Vice- President of the Judo International Federation and President of the Asian Judo Federation availed the opportunity to commend Bin Thaloub’s efforts. “Honoring Mohammed Bin Thaloub Al Deri with the Asian Medal of Sport Tolerance coincides with the UAE’s Year of Tolerance Initiative. So, this high celebration of a key sport figure in UAE comes as an actual translation of that humanitarian message that H.E. Bin Thaloub is always keen to exhibit, in addition to his constant contributions to boost the Olympic values, promoting the fair play and equality principles among people.”

In his turn, H.E. Mohammed bin Thaloub expressed his sincerest appreciation and regards for granting him such a prestigious medal. “Granting me the Asian medal reaffirms the trust of the continental and international Asian sport bodies in the UAE and its leading initiatives. Indeed, it is a way of honoring the UAE as a whole as it proves from day to day and an occasion to another that it is the country of friendship, tolerance and peace. UAE will always remain a focal point for all advocates of peace whose principles were established by the founder of UAE the late Sheikh Zayed, may God rest his soul in peace, and maintained by the UAE wise leadership who vowed to work hard to be the land of the goodness and love where diverse peoples of the world meet.

H.E. Mohammed bin Thaloub also thanked President of the Asian Judo Federation, H.E. Obaid Zayed Al Enezi for such a highly appreciated confidence and expressed his appreciation for the great effort made by the UAE to improve sport as a whole and the Judo game in particular.

Noteworthy, Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Deri was appointed as the Honorary President of the Arab Judo Federation in 2011. In 2018, the Judo International Federation honored Bin Thaloub by appointing him as the Ambassador for Peace and Friendship, and awarded him the Honorary Membership Certificate of the Judo International Federation signed by the Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, the Honorary President of the Judo International Federation. Such a certificate is granted to influential figures and supporters of the game worldwide.

Al Ain Athletics Team topped the standing table of the Youth Athletics “Teams” Tournament held at the Police Officers’ Club in Dubai for two days which was dedicated to men’s stage “general”, the young and junior teams.

Al Ain player Ayoub Al Sheikh won the gold medal for the 400 meters and 200 meters race. Also, Mohammed Sadiq won the golden medal of 10km and the silver medal of 1500 meters race. Mohammed Al Shamesi won the golden medal in the spear competitions and Al Ain Young Relay Race Team won the golden medal of the 400-meter race. The team included Ayoub Al Sheikh, Mohammed Al Bloushi, Mansoor Al Hassani and Abdul Aziz Bloushi.

Askar Awad clinched the bronze medal of 3K obstacles race, while Abdullah Al Hassani won the silver medal of the same race. Askar Awad, Mansour Al Hassani, Abdul Aziz Al Bloushi and Mohammad Taha placed third in the 100-meter relay race.

As for Al Ain Junior Team, Hamid Al Shukri placed first and won the golden medal of the disc competition. Meanwhile, Al Ain Relay Team including Nasser Al Ka’abi, Mubarak Saeed, Humaid Al Shokr and Obaid Al Nuaimi placed third in the 200—meter relay race to win the bronze medal.

In the general phase, Salmeen Al Nuaimi won the silver medal in the spear competition and Mohammed Al Hassani won the bronze medal of the 1500- meter race.

The big star of Al Ain Volleyball Team, Mohammed Shamal, dedicated the achievement of winning the title of the General Volleyball League to H.H. He asserted that they were up to the challenge and showed their determination to clinch the dearest title. “Following losing the first leg match in Dubai, we kept holding meetings in the changing room to agree on the best way to win the league title. All the players had the desire to correct the path and we were successful in winning the second leg match and deferring the announcement of the champions until the playoff match.”

Shamal added: “We kept holding meetings regularly and when we entered the indoor court of Al Jazira Club, we knew that we were so close to achieve the title. Therefore, pushed ourselves to the limit and every player did his best. We all were so determined to clinch the title and every one of the team knows how important to grab the title.”

The star of the team showed his deepest appreciation to H.E. Mohamed Abdullah Al Dhaheri for his support of the team in most of the games. He also thanked his teammates, coaching team and members of the Board of Directors for their great effort during the current period. He signed off: “We have another important challenge which the President’s Cup is and for sure we are so eager to clinch the title and keep it in the Club’s closets.”

Al Junaibi stated after crowning the team with the trophy of the league that Al Ain Volleyball Team is accustomed to win titles and throughout the history of the team and their participations in any competition they have a clear goal, that is winning the title. “We are so happy that the team did it and regained the title of the General Volleyball League after losing the final match of the last season in favor of Bani Yas Team.”

He added that the senior management of the company were fully confident of the team’s ability to clinch the title of the league despite their loss in the first leg match held in Dubai. “It is true that the team lost that match, but it did not affect the morale of the players. They vowed to win the title and that was evident in their performance in the second leg match.”

Abdul Aziz Al Junaibi pointed out that winning the title of the General Volleyball League will give the players a big push they needed to continue winning further titles. “The team celebrated the coronation of the league title and the celebrations were stopped directly because we have an important championship also, the President’s Cup.” He signed off by stating that this championship is an important goal for the team, and we look forward to keeping the trophy in the club’s closets.”

Following the end of the final match, H.E. Al Darmaki stressed: “We won the title as a result of the consolidated efforts of all the players, coaching team and administrative team. Indeed, everyone is a partner in the coronation of the team with the 11th title. Our journey in winning titles will not stop and we will strive hard to maintain the trophy of the league in the club closets.”

Abdullah said: “At the beginning of the season we ended to the final match of the Vice-President’s Cup, but we lost it. I stressed that the loss did not affect the players’ morale who pledged to win the title of the league. Now, after we won the title there is a goal set by the club which is to retain the title of the President Cup in our closets. We will make sure to take advantage of the prevailing moral factor we are experiencing currently to win that title.”

Al Darmaki stressed that the atmosphere of the game was enthusiastic and that the players of the team were up to expectations. “The team was able to win the title without resorting to a playoff because we did well in the first leg match held in Dubai, but we lost the result. However, in the second leg match we showed our genuine fighting spirit. In the playoff match, we were up to the challenge and won the title. The match was not easy, and the opponent managed to keep up with us in points over the course of the three rounds.”

In his assessment of the coaching team’s performance during the last period that led the team to put firm hands on the title of the league, Al Darmaki stated: “We have been assessing the coaching team since we lost the final match of the Vice-President’s Cup. We promise the fans that the team will do their best in the last tournament we have this current season and will exhibit their genuine skills and fighting spirit.”

Indeed, all the players, coaching team and the administrative staff were up the challenge and highly motivated to win the title and not to forget the key role played by the grassroots who were there to support the team in all their matches. All of these helped the team to win the title for the 11th times in the history of the club.”

H.E. the Chairman stressed the importance of continuing to win more titles. “We have a bigger task ahead of us, which is the President’s Cup that will be kicked off in the coming days. This tournament is a major goal for us, and everyone understands the importance of retaining this title in the club’s closets as we are determined to win the two titles in one season.”

H.E. Khamis Obeid Al Ka’abi concluded his statement by stressing that he is so confident that the players will be able to win the title and addressed a message to the fans to keep going in their massive support of the team.

Al Ain Volleyball Team were crowned with the title of the General Volleyball League for the 11th time in its history when they defeated Al Ahli Shabab Dubai by three clean rounds in the playoff game held at the indoor court of Al Jazira Club. It was a great achievement for the team was able to win the title they missed last season in the final match.

The match was attended by the President of the UAE Volleyball Association, H.E. Yousef Al Mulla, H.E. Khamis Obaid Al Ka’abi, Chairman of Al Ain Sports Games Company, H.E. Following the end of the final match, the President of the UAE Volleyball Association, H.E. Yousef Al Mulla, H.E. Khamis Obaid Al Ka’abi, Chairman of Al Ain Sports Games Company, crowned the champs of the Boss with the trophy and golden medals. The team’s players, coaching team and administrative team celebrated the victory and winning the title with the fans who were keen to accompany the team to Abu Dhabi in support of their favorite team.

Noteworthy, the Boss stars were able to win the opponent by three clean rounds: 28-26, 27-25, 25-20.

(WAM) — His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, today crowned Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel for winning the 2018 – 19 Arab Club Champions Cup, known officially as the Zayed Champions Cup, after beating Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed congratulated the administrative and technical staff and fans of the Tunisian club.

Turki al-Sheikh, Head of the Saudi General Authority for Entertainment, presented the cup to the Tunisian club and congratulated them.

H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, also congratulated the players of the club, praising their vibrant performance.

(WAM) — H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has inaugurated ‘Morocco in Abu Dhabi 2019’.

The event is welcomed by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI of Morocco and with the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, under the supervision of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mohamed Sajid, Moroccan Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Adel Al Faqir, Director of the National Office of Tourism, Mehdi Qutbi, Chairman of the National Museums Foundation, and members of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.

The event is aimed to strengthen ties between the UAE and Morocco in all areas, political, cultural, economic, touristic and others. Guests of the event will be able to learn more about Morocco, the culture of the North African country, its present, past and future, and to get acquainted with its architecture, music, art, fashion, museums, cuisine, and rich traditions.

H.H. Sheikh Hazza stated that hosting the event in Abu Dhabi is reflective of the longstanding relations between the UAE and Morocco – two countries, which, he said, share significant commonalities in promoting the values of tolerance, love and acceptance.

” ‘Morocco in Abu Dhabi’ reflects the strong fraternity bonds between the two countries,” he said, thanking the event’s organising committee for the neat organisation.

Sheikh Hazza toured the event, which includes various cultural, historic and artistic activities.

His tour ended at the Moroccan Heritage Museum, which contains 300 antiques, including manuscripts, oil lamps, Islamic pottery, jewelry and horse riding tools.

The event is open to the public from 15:00 to 21:00 until April 30.
