Al Ain’s Jiu-Jitsu Team won 21 colored medals in the fourth round of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Championship held at the Mubadala Arena at Zayed Sports City. The competitions commenced on 12 and 13 January.

Al Ain scored 5460 points and picked 7 gold medals, 4 silvers and 10 bronze medals.

In the category of blue belt, Al Ain champs snatched the following gold medals: Hamdan Al Nuaimi 46 Kg, Mahra Al Hanaai won the gold medal 57Kg, Bashayer Al Matroushi 63 kg, Mira Khalifa 44 kg, Kholoud Al Nuaimi 52 kg, Ghanem Al Jaberi 56 kg, Khawla Al Haj 70 kg.

Al Ain player who won the silver medals in the category of blue belt are: Sari Al Ketbi 46 kg, Shouq Abdullah 48kg, Humaid Al Kaabi 69kg and Mubarak Amro 94kg.

Bronze medal winners were: Ali Al Ketbi, Shamma Bader, Fatima Al Mansouri, Diab Al Nuaimi, Wadima Al-Yafie, Hussa Al Shamsi, Khaled Al Darmaki, Abdullah Al Kaabi, Mohammed Al Shehhi and Saeed Al Junaibi.

Al Ain’s Jiu-Jitsu Team is preparing for the fifth round of the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam scheduled to be held in London in March 2018.

Al Ain Handball Men Team lost to Shabab Al Ahli Dubai by 20-28 in the match held as part of UAE Handball Cup at the indoor court of Khalifa bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain Club. The first half ended by Shabab Al Ahli Dubai taking the lead by 16-10.

The Cabinet has issued Resolution No. “20M/1F” of 2018 on commissioning H.E. Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Rumaithi with the duties of the Chairman the General Authority for Sports.

H.E. Maj. Gen. Al Rumaithi is the Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police. He is also Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Member of the AFC Executive Committee and the Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the FIFA Club World Cup.

He is the former President of the UAE Football Association during 2004-2008 and was the Vice Chairman of the General Authority for Youth and Sports in 2006.

H.E. Maj. Gen. Al Rumaithi was the Secretary General of the Honorary Board of Al Ain Club in 2000 and the former Chairman of the Executive Committee of Al Ain Club during 2001-2008 when Al Ain was able to clinch the title of the AFC Champions League Championship in 2003.

Al Ain Handball Men Team lost their match against Al Nasr by 27-29 in the match held at the indoor court of Khalifa bin Zayed in Al Ain Club as part of the competitions of UAE Handball Cup Tournament. The first round ended in favor of the visitors team by 19-15.

Al Ain Volleyball Men Team lost their match against Al Nasr by 2-3 in the match held at the indoor court in Al Nasr Club in Dubai as part of the Premier Volleyball League. The first round ended for the advantage of the home team by 25-23, but Al Ain was able to finish the second round in their favor by 25-23. Al Nasr was able to come back and win the third round by 25-16, but Al Ain was able to level in the fourth round by 25-21. In the fifth round, luck was next to the home team and won it by 15-10 and to win the match.

A permanent tribute to the nation’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, has been named, ‘The Founder’s Memorial’ by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces on Wednesday to commemorate the memory of the Founder of UAE, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and to consolidate his noble values and great achievements at the level of UAE and the world as a whole.

Set to be inaugurated in early 2018 to coincide with the Year of Zayed and marking the 100-year anniversary of Sheikh Zayed’s birth, the memorial will include a visitors’ center highlighting the role of Sheikh Zayed in establishing and building the UAE and its local and international achievements. It will also offer visitors a journey of discovery into the life and legacy of Sheikh Zayed through rarely-seen footage, personal stories, articles and artefacts which provide an opportunity to learn about the biography of the Founding Leader which is rich in giving, humanitarian principles and noble values.

Following the approval of Abu Dhabi Sports Council on forming the Organizing Committee of the Egyptian Football Super Cup, the committee held its first meeting chaired by H.E. Mohammed Bin Hazzam Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of UAE Football Association, Suhail Al Arifi, Vice Chairman and members of the committee: Rashid Suhail, Ahmed Al Musa’abi, Saeed Al Muhairi, Jamal Murad, Mohammed Al Shateri, Rashid Abdullah Al Ameri, Ahmed Wahab.

During the meeting chaired by Suhail Arifi, Vice Chairman, and held at Abu Dhabi Sports Council head office and attended by all members, representatives of Presentation Co. and representatives of Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, Al Arifi emphasized in his welcoming speech the significance of the coming match and its role in pushing forward the plans and vision of Abu Dhabi Sports Council in hosting the most important international sporting events, and ADSC’s dedicated efforts to present all sporting events in the best and fully organized manner. “The committee chaired by Mohammed Bin Hazzam Al Dhaheri is so keen to ensure all tasks be carried out in accordance with a unified mechanism that guarantees the harmonization of all parties’ efforts during stages of organizing the match in the best possible manner,” said he.

Al Arifi commended hosting the third edition of the Egyptian Football Super Cup match at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, the masterpiece of the international stadiums, on Sunday 12th January 2018 in Al Ain at 09:00 p.m. UAE local time (7 p.m. Cairo local time) with expectations to be attended by nearly 25,000 fans.

Al Arifi stressed during the meeting on the importance of securing all the requirements to ensure the success of the match through setting up a plan to distribute tasks to all working teams according to a timetable that includes details of all steps required to be completed before the match.

During the meeting, attendees also reviewed the security plan, fans entry points plan, marketing plan, TV broadcasting plan and the volunteer teams plan besides the security plan. The attendees also decided to start issuing permits for all the media representatives as of Wednesday 3rd January until Saturday 6th January. The committee members also reviewed locations of football fields where the two teams will conduct their pre-match training sessions. Additionally, it was approved to hold the pre-match press conferences for both head coaches, Husam Al Badri and Husam Hasan on Thursday 11th January 2017 at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium.

The committee also commenced its coordination measures with all competent parties with the aim to present a distinctive edition of a great sport event that will be of an added value to the successes of the Egyptian Football Super Cup matches which are held within the framework of the longstanding historical relationships between UAE and Egypt, especially after the great successes achieved during the past two experiences and important accomplishments which witnessed the large public support of the Egyptian fans on UAE land.

H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, hailed UAE National Team’s victory over their Iraqi counterpart in penalty shootouts on Tuesday and reaching the final match of the 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup.

Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed posted a tweet on his official Twitter account stating: “Congrats for the White’s win … a stunning match and a distinguished performance exhibited by the brotherly Iraqi team, the spirit of sports dominated the match and everyone played professionally and perfectly. Our date will be winning the Gulf Cup with God willing… best of luck to the Whites”

The UAE National Team is scheduled to play against Oman in the final match of the 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup on Friday following beating their Iraqi counterpart 4-2 in penalty shootouts on Tuesday.
